Moved to the area several months ago. Our family of 3 picked up bowling as a favorite hobby when we lived close to AMF Bradenton. Overdue for a bowling night, we decided to come here based off these reviews. The left side of the alley looked quite nice with leather couches, nice tvs, etc, but they sent us to the right hand side (lane 30) where we had a folding chair to share between the 3 of us since the families to either side were taking up what little other seating was available. Here to bowl though, we rolled, and on the 4th frame, my 7yr old rolled a 9. When the machine went to set up for his second roll, it cleared it and completely reset instead, and the screen didn't record his 9. (I hate this kind of interaction) but none the less I trotted back to tell the counter guy what happened. He, seeming put out by this, said "what would you like me to do about it". (I would think something along the lines of 1. Addressing whatever mechanical issue caused this glitch and 2. Fixing the score and setting my boy up for his second roll). Instead he went over to our lane, maybe pushed a button or two, accomplishing nothing, and told my son to just roll again. He did (not getting a 9) but we went with it. 5th or 6th frame he rolls a 7 first and it does the same thing; resets and doesn't register the score. No big deal, just roll again. 7th frame, he rolls a 9; again, resets and doesn't count it. We're really not enjoying ourselves at this point so I go back over, tell the guy its happened twice more and that we'd like to just go, and he's again very unapologetic, very put out by me. When my significant other went to settle a refund a woman (manager?) told him since we bowled 7 frames we were getting charged for the full game, and he was informed that the next closest bowling alley is 7 miles away. Yikes. We're pretty easy going but this...
Read moreGiving them one star is even more than I would like to give them. We showed up with six adults and a 3 year old. It has been a long time since we had been bowling there and I had a few questions regarding pricing. Right away the man started accusing me of asking him for discounts! I was simply asking if we paid full price for a three-year-old. When I ask him to be patient with us since we were just trying to understand the process he got extremely mad, slammed my money on the counter and told me to leave and go to AMF! I told him I wanted to speak to a manager and he said he was the manager! Upon leaving I ran into another worker and asked if he was in fact the manager and I was told yes that he was. His name was Terry! I explained the situation to the worker and told them I know that there was nothing they could do about it but I felt that he was extremely rude and the worker himself said to me I'm so sorry, I'm not surprised but I am very sorry. We left and went to where he suggested. I asked the gentleman at AMF the same exact questions that I asked at Sarasota Lanes and the man could not have been more helpful! Not only was the customer service outstanding at AMF we paid $4 less per person!!! Stay away from this establishment. As I read the negative reviews it always comes down to poor customer service and a man who was extremely rude. Somehow I think the owner better take another look at Terry, he doesn't seem good for business! AMF has just earned my...
Read moreWe went bowling (a party of eight) Friday night the second week of July 2022. First time here. Our friends treated us so I can’t comment on the prices although I think it is a bit pricey and when you charge by the hour you really want to do all of your bowling, take a break to eat and then pay for another hour to focus on bowling. Keep that in mind versus other places that charge by the game. Not a dealbreaker for me to come back in the future and pay on my own though. The place was absolutely clean even the bathrooms. The staff was very nice and helpful. Most surprisingly was the food. Really good food- I had a hamburger and it was excellent. Never thought I would say that about bowling alley food. Can’t comment on the drinks. It was not very busy — there were several people there and everyone was having a great time. There is an age 18 and over section with pool tables, shuffleboard, darts and a pinball machine. Just know if you arrive there with children under 18 you will still not be allowed in that area because it’s A rule that is not bendable just to keep the children safe from getting their eyes poked out with pool cues.So if you want to partake in those leave the under 18s at home. Overall we had a great time and we will...
