Excellent donut place to try out and enjoy! Every time my wife and I stop in Sarasota (though we’ve also been to the Saint Petersburg location as well) we stop here for a tasty treat.
Quality: You may be thinking “why a 4-star instead of 5-star review for a place you like so much?” Most of the time we went here, the donuts were great (we especially really enjoy the strawberry shortcake donut & cronut)! However, their donuts can be hit or miss sometimes. The second time we were here (and very rarely on other occasions) the donuts seemed off. I can’t speak to whether all their products are made fresh each day or what exactly it was (maybe in the fridge during transportation a bit too long?) but the taste was definitely off. We couldn’t quite nail it down what it was, but tried it again and the donuts were as great as they were the first time. That experience only happened one or two more times over the dozen times we’ve had their donuts!
Also - this place is not a coffee place. Everyone has a different pallet, but their coffee was just not good (we like our coffee black with nothing mixed in). I cannot speak to any cappuccinos etc. because we did not try those.
Prices: if you’re used to buying donuts at Dunkin’ Donuts you will be surprised here. They are pricier than your average donut but that’s because they’re not your average donut!! Good quality ingredients and unique flavored (plus nice looking!) donuts. Try them, I’m sure you’ll like them!
Cleanliness: Looked pretty clean to me! I wouldn’t worry about anything crazy getting into your food here.
Location: Very convenient to get to with decent sized parking lot.
Atmosphere: This location is on the smaller side with limited seating. Depending on your party size you can either sit and eat or just take them to go.
Service: Generally really good. There’s an older woman that works at this location that strikes me as a bit grumpy but she wasn’t mean or anything.
Overall I’d highly suggest giving this...
Read more**update . Glad I had a coupon . Not a fan of. Look wonderful , great presentation. Bought st 11 am . Kept in box , had after dinner for my daughters birthday . The donuts dry as can be . no fiavor . They taste day old . I'm sorry I thought was going to be wowed . The price would have been 23.50 for six donuts . I would have been extremely disappointed
Found this place through CLIPP coupon APP . Decided to give them a try , my daughter regularly buys from Five-O donuts. Not sure if this location , Got there shortly before 11 am .,They aren't kidding, they often sell out by noon . There were many on my daughter"s list that were already sold out . Good for them , not too many left over at the end of the day . Maybe , they can join the program " Too Good to Go " App where they sell little surprise bags of donuts for a reduced price before they close . We go to a lot of businesses and buy their end of day items .
As a previous long time upper management personnel and small business owner , people like myself often read owners responses to Google and YELP reviews. It often paints a picture of the overall business character. Just because a customer leaves a snarky comment or what the owner believes to be a " bogus" review, there are ways to respond in a professional manner and not snap back . The person writing the review may not be able to articulate their displeasure in a manner that doesn't seem realistic or appears like a false review. It's easy as a business owner to take negative reviews personally and get defensive . But two wrongs don't make a right. When I see aggressive responses , I think about how the employees must be treated if they do something wrong or Gosh forbid I had a bad experience, what kind of reaction would I get from the owner/manager .
My experience with the gentleman working today was a pleasant experience and I hope my daughter once again enjoys...
Read moreI've never had a bad experience at Five-O Donut Co on Ringling until today. Their donuts are AMAZING, but the attendant today was awful. A 94 year old elderly gentleman in front of me with a cane ordered 10 donuts for the girls at his doctor's office. 10 donuts. Literally, she was frazzled by 10 donuts. She put them in 2 separate boxes so I suggested she put them in one (make them fit) because it would be hard for the gentleman to carry two boxes and use his cane. She was so frazzled she said something like, hold on a minute, let me first get them right and then I will. Get them right? His order was 6 of the plain and 4 of the fancies, and gave her the option to pick whichever ones she wanted. So she "gets them right" and still puts them in 2 boxes. I repeated my suggestion, to which she got perturbed and told me it was the only box she had, BUT THE TWO BOXES HAD SPACE IN THEM, a fact that must have escaped her. She said, I'm going to help him out to his car with the boxes. I said, are you going to help him into the doctor's office with them? She ignored me at that point and the elderly gentleman said to me, "thanks for trying."
My turn came and I asked for an Oreo donut in the plastic container I pointed to (because it was for a coworker). She said, perfect. She threw it in a bag. I said, can I please have it in this plastic container and pointed to it again? She said, oh, do you want it in the plastic container or do you want the donut holes in that container? WHAT??? OMG! I WAS SO GLAD TO GET MY DONUT AND GET OUT OF THERE. Let's just say next time I crave donuts from Five-O for me or ANYBODY ELSE and she is the only one minding the front, we won't be...
