My husband bought me a 40th anniversary ruby and diamond ring in Saint Lucia (12 years ago). I caught it on something several months ago, and it was completely bent out of round. I didn't notice that one ruby's tip had bent, too, and that stone fell out a day or more later. I had no idea where and exactly when I'd lost it. I brought the ring to a well-known (well-respected, great reviews) jeweler in the Bradenton/LWR/Sarasota area. He declined to give me a quote to repair the ring (replace the stone, retip, and build up the band). Instead he said I should simply buy a new ring, using whatever stones could be "salvaged" from my current ring. He estimated a new ring (mind you, only one new stone and a new gold band) would cost ~$900. Part of the cost was finding a match to the original (remaining) rubies, as they are quite nice -- a very deep red. I was sick and decided to check with one more jeweler - Thayer's. Without hesitation, the jeweler said there was no need to replace the ring itself. He estimated my cost would be $250, including a new stone to match the existing rubies, re-tipping, and building up the band. It sounded almost too good to be true, but because of Thayer's excellent reviews, I left my very sentimental (not to mention valuable) ring with them that day. I just picked it up. One week later, it's as beautiful as it was the day we bought it. The total cost? $190. I am thrilled with their professionalism and warmth when I walked in with my damaged ring, their turn-aound time and price, and the quality of their work. Jeremy of Thayer Jewelers is as phenomenal as the jewelry he sells. I feel like Jeremy and I are old friends even though I have yet to meet him…our communications are via texts. I do not live close. My friend helped me find the most extraordinary, star ruby ring on Jeremy’s website. I shared photos with my husband and to my surprise a few weeks later he gave me this ring from Jeremy’s Sarasota, FL store, for my 25th wedding anniversary! I did need the ring sized and it was so easy. Inside four days I sent the ring back to Jeremy using a label he sent me, he sized it and sent it back. He has provided me with his very impressive background in gem stones, presented all necessary information on the ring including an appraisal and has educated me about this gem stone-wonderful! I couldn’t be happier with the ring or from whom we bought it. I highly recommend visiting his store if you are able or looking through his website. I have to confess I was expecting the process of buying an antique emerald ring to be difficult; however, I am still in AWE of the entire experience from start to finish because of Jeremy Thayer!
