I was really looking forward to this place but was very dissatisfied. The waffles were raw on the inside, for both me and the other person I was dining with. And I’m not exaggerating when I say raw, it was doughy on the inside. For a place that specializes in waffles, I expected them to know how to cook them.
The owner brought our dishes to the table and commented how good they smelled and asked what we ordered. I guess the owner doesn’t know what her dishes look like. The one I ordered was supposed to have nuts on top, but there were none. And when I called someone over to say something, they had to check the menu to see what was supposed to be on the waffle. They apologized and said the chef should know. They did take it off my bill, but I was so disappointed and disgusted to have...
Read moreJust another breakfast house - no way here! Drove down from St Pete Beach to try it out. Seen it newer online for downtown area of Sarasota. Its a "Welcome, come on in and take a seat - how can we serve you a delicious meal?" Comfortable seating, cozy tables, easy to read menu, pleasant servers, and the owner, Peter, may pop on over to say hi. I had the original - hey, its what they call the place, Waffle Monkey. Large delicious waffle, with fresh sliced bananas and coconut on top. A little bit of syrup and your good to go. I like to take my first bite of waffles, without the syrup. This is how you know how good it can be. Yes its waffle batter, but this one is delightfully tasteful. Add a side order of bacon, firm not too hard, that was also very good and the orange juice too. Not going to tell you how they serve that, it'll ruin a good surprise. All of this at a good price. Afterwards, a fresh Cappuccino, topped with a thick head of foam. Very pleased to have found this newer place - well worth the drive. I sometimes add pictures to my reviews, but not this time. No - you have to go and see and try and experience this wonderful breakfast place...
Read moreMy granddaughter, daughter, and I went here on a busy Sunday morning for waffles. When we walked in, we didn’t see a table for three, so we left. Peter, one of the owners, followed us out, and we explained that we couldn’t wait for a table, so he combined two tables for us. The service was excellent. The waiter ensured that he took our order correctly. When the drinks arrived, the orange juice and strawberry slushy were in a cute mason jar with paper straws. My granddaughter was handed a picture to draw while waiting for her meal, and they taped it up near the register when we left.
The waffles were excellent. My granddaughter is allergic to nuts, and the owner provided us with a menu that describes which items contain nuts. I was impressed with how respectful they are of this sensitive allergy. I would go back again in a heartbeat. They have seating outside, which will come in handy when it cools off. I mentioned to the owners that they should start looking for a larger restaurant, because they will need the...
