Used to be a big fan of much of this entire plaza, but two of my favorite places closed their doors. I only typically go to Jewel if they have good sales going on, if I have an Ibotta rebate exclusive to Jewel, if I have lots of coupons, or it's just my last resort. Their prices aren't altogether super unreasonable, but I'm a tightwad and a bargain shopper, so, since it takes all of about an extra 45 seconds to get to Aldi, I try to go there for produce and dry goods, then head up to Mariano's for meat and dairy, and I've discovered that it's actually much cheaper and far more convenient to order paper goods and cleaning supplies online. (Just sharing how I save, since Jewel is rarely the best place to go)
So, I love Convert 2 Ca$h; lots of cool stuff to purchase. Word of advice, however: sell your jewelry elsewhere, and if you plan to sell anything else, make sure you know what it's worth and negotiate accordingly because lowballing is a common practice.
Sally Beauty Supply is great! If you're an aesthetically conscious person, you'll find what you need here. Prices range from cheap to really expensive, and they have nearly every brand imaginable. Just be aware that there are certain things you can't purchase without specific licensing.
Haven't yet been to the little video poker joint, but it doesn't feel or look like a total scuzzhole, as many of the others do.
Ugh, and good grief, don't EVEN get me started on Denny's. Either go to a different location, or just go to IHOP instead. Trust me.
Would love to see Hot Dog Express and Papa John's back in there. At least they had some good coupons for their time.
As another poster said on here, and he's right, Jewel employees don't do cart duty as frequently as they could, which is a big part of why the parking situation is so atrocious. On a windy day, you can pretty much guarantee that a vigilante cart will rush your car's body like Batman. So, try to pay attention to where in the lot you park.
Interested to see what they plan to do do with the growing number of empty...
Read moreAlmost exclusively only go to Jewel when I go here, though I've been in nearly every other establishment at least once. With the exception that recently, Jewel is experiencing a serious employee shortage, which translates into longer checkout lines before letting shelves and aisles go bare or too messy (which, to me, is a reasonable trade off, assuming the register supervisor continues to consistently jump in and help customers fly through the self checkout lanes to get people in and out best they can under the circumstances), I like the employees, they're always friendly, ready to help with everything, and try to remember you by name. And the pharmacy here, in my personal opinion, is the best hands down in terms of service, prices, speed, and security. Yeah, they're not open 24 hours, but if you need a script filled at 2am it's probly cause you just came from the ER, and well, not too many people out filling scripts at 2am, so, you'll have plenty of time to deal with the other one if you need to go there anyway. But I digress. This location Jewel is pretty awesome. Cool that Burlington is in there now, too. Convenience factor on that went up a bunch of points. There's something else being erected currently right in front of Burlington, and I'm interested to see what it's going to be. Whatever it is though, the vibe I get is that it'll probly only make the plaza a busier place. Busier, and hopefully...
Read moreI find it fascinating that there are only TWO (2) handicapped spaces for the Osco side but at LEAST a dozen order pick up places which are unoccupied. I had to circle the lot twice in order to pick up a prescription and had to park all the way down at the end of the aisle because nothing opened up. If I go in the middle of the day on a weekday one of the handicapped spaces will usually open up within 5 minutes or so. Unfortunately, I had to get an emergency prescription and Osco does not offer drive-thru and does not allow payment over phone with a debit card to be delivered (only credit cards are allowed for some very bizarre and unknown reason), so one must actually show up, park, and navigate all the way back to the pharmacy even with a broken ankle.
They have no consideration for persons that are handicapped but plenty of consideration for the expensive shopping pick up spaces. Covid special parking needs have been gone for quite some time. Jewel/Osco needs to start being more respectful of...
