Gym is nice. Staff is friendly. I would’ve gave this gym a higher review. If only they figured out how to get their infrared sauna’s working properly it seems like they were improperly installed with wood beams covering 35% of the units on the walls absorbing all the infrared waves that should be going into your muscles instead these waves are going into the wood. These unit should have a screen on them similar to howa speaker from a stereo system that produces sound waves you wouldn’t cover your speakers with a bookshelf wouldn’t make sense? most infrared saunas I’ve been in have all had some type of cloth screens over the units, not blocking any of the waves that benefit you, but in the sauna and at this location 35% of the units are blocked with 3 Wood beams not letting the infrared waves penetrate your muscles There’s no infrared units on your legs or feet. It just seemed like there wasn’t enough units in the sauna to be beneficial.?. Sauna was cold 118° degrees spoke to different individuals and was told Sauna needs to be reset every 90 minutes. and if it doesn’t, it’ll turn off I spoke to general manager he did not understand what the other employee was talking about? The women sauna was at 165 and the mens sauna was at 118. I was hoping it would go higher if I sat in there for over 35 minutes my heart rate never got over 83.. lots of red light but just for show The red bulbs in the unit don’t do anything besides ambience, which is nice to look at but not beneficial in anyway, infrared sauna was not working the five days that I was there. The door to the infrared sauna had a inch space at the bottom of the door, letting all the heat out not closing properly sauna was big very nice, but it just seems like it needed more heating units that actually worked and were properly placed The other downside to the gym are the huge fans that are on the main floor and blowing air at very high speeds. I like to be warm when I’m working out, so I don’t strain any muscles but instead I was cold my eyes were drying out from all the wind that was blowing out down . I think they should have them on the lowest setting as I tried to stay away from any blowing air even in a restaurant if I’m sat underneath an AC unit, I will ask to move. I do not like air blowing down on me and it’s not beneficial to a proper workout. I was ready to sign a one year membership, but after my trial membership, I think I might just try a month and see how they’re doing. I know it’s a new gym, but I think they should work harder to get the infrared working properly and have more of an enjoyable atmosphere when working out Not having to worry about getting sick from being cold. Other than that, the gym ohh is very nice. I just think they need to work harder on the sauna and maybe doing a little cleaning mid shift men’s locker room just wiping down the counters and the mirrors but other than that everything was good. I hope to go back and see if they have improved on this as I really liked the gym but I am a huge hot sauna person and do not like air blowing on me at high speeds so I’ll keep looking …steam room was good. if they fix those hiccups, I would give them five stars. I hope the owner reads this and understands exactly how the members feel or future members because he does live here locally so it’s not that corporate yet but I invite him to sit in his infrared sauna for 30 to 40 minutes and see if he finds it beneficial an optimal heart rate would be around 145 to reach after being in there for 30 to 40 minutes if they fix these problems, they would have a really nice gym. And to have everybody on the team knowledgeable on how infrared sauna’s work proper temperatures and all the protocols that need to be done to have them working properly throughout the day. Sauna is a huge part of my day I give...
Read moreA long-time member of Mountainside Fitness, recently checked out one of their newer locations. I also have other brand club memberships as I travel a lot where MS Fit is not but I'm always glad to come to my Mountainside home gym when I return to AZ!
👍 Tons of equipment for every kind of workout you would ever want to do. And some very expensive high-end stuff not generally provided at a gym at the price point. 👍 Basketball/Pickleball court. 👍 Very clean all the time. 👍 M- Cafe is a nice option for a smoothie or a protein drink. They even have cold brew coffee (although I do miss the days when they used to offer free hot coffee). 👍 Towels provided for workouts and showers. 👍 Plenty of cleaning wipes, Kleenex provided throughout. 👍 Several membership options including pre-paid and monthly. It's very reasonable for what you get in comparison to other places. All memberships include access to almost all clubs. For me, the Premium is not worth it as I get a lot more Premium services at another gym for less; however, that gym has other things MS does not (trade-offs depending on what is important to you). 👍 Great amenities, sauna, steam room, cold plunge (extra fee), lockers (with locks), mouthwash, lotion, and Q-tips. Small storage & charging stations. Massage chairs (extra fee/membership type). 👍 Having utilized their training staff over the years, I have always been happy with the caliber of trainers and pricepoint (look for specials). Group fitness classes are also very good. 👍 Good hours (appreciate the 4:30 am open time for us early-birds on weekdays and 6 am on weekends). One or two locations with 24-hour access would be nice but perhaps would not be busy enough for them to make business sense. 👍 Good kids program. One of the better for most gyms. 👎 They don't have pools or hot tubs so I have another membership at a gym for those options. But I get that these are expensive things to operate that don't always get used and I don't go to Mountainside for a swim, it's my main go-to for everything else. ➡️ Pictures taken at 6 am...
Read moreThis place is a health hazard. ⚠️
In less than one month the infrared sauna in the women’s locker room is broken. Electrical issues they say.
STOP wearing clothes and shoes in the saunas and steam rooms!!!
This place is a health hazard. Women go into the saunas and steam rooms wearing their gym clothes and shoes. I’ve even seen women go into the cold plunge with their gym clothes on 🤮
I asked and told management and staff on numerous occasions. No one cared.
I even called their corporate and district managers. They don’t care either.
In any other country, City and gym in this entire planet, if people went into the steam room and sauna is wearing clothes, they would be kicked out. I’ve never heard of this in my entire life before wearing clothes and steam rooms, infrareds, and cold plunges.
They don’t have any signs up telling people to take their shoes and clothes off. And to shower before using these facilities.
I got kicked out of this gym for requesting basic hygiene protocol.
The staff are so immature and young they have no business working at a place like this if they don’t understand basic hygiene.
I hope the health inspector pops by and takes a visit and gets this place shut down. It’s so disgusting.
There’s oils and hair in the cold plunge.
The infrared smelled like poo when it was working because all the yoga girls go directly in there with their clothes on after a yoga class.
There are muddy dirt shoe prints in the steam room.
In what universe does wearing clothes in these facilities make sense?
I really hope this place gets shut down based on how they treated me for asking for...
