Cafe Rio Fresh Modern Mexican — Restaurant in Scottsdale

I literally left. I told the girl that I am allergic to wheat and she said so you want the flour tortilla. I asked her what flour is made from And she told me that she did not know. I informed her that flower is made from wheat and I reiterated that I am allergic to it. She didn't understand. I asked for No rice & extra beans and did not get them. But she did give me rice. Send the mail sitting there staring at the whole thing goes and throws a tortilla after putting the toppings. And then I asked him why he put the tortilla after he sat there and listened to the whole conversation with the female about not putting tortilla. Then he told me that he would remake it. I didn't trust it after that I just walked out cuz it looked like he just spit in my food. Literally the only Cafe Rio that I can go to being allergic to wheat or gluten-free is the one on 20th Street and Camelback. That's the only good Cafe Rio in this entire region. It seems everyone else is seriously ignorant. And then when the female at the front wanted me to pay for it. She's sitting there laughing about the whole thing. I said you know what. It's not funny because I could have sat down and took some bites of that and passed out and let them call the ambulance and then I would have sued the shit out of them and she laughed about it and she was like, "yeah right." How is it that people in the world have a food handlers cards now and they don't know what it is because you used to have to know about allergies to get your food handlers card before allergies were really even a thing and now anyone can just serve food without a food handlers card. How is it that these people are of grown age and they don't know what their food is made out of? How is it that these people are trained to serve people and don't know what the hell they're serving? He remade the dish custom cooked the steak to order and gave us all spec attention we could ask for,, and then some. These staff members have also been helpful to us that I may not have mentioned previously: Edgar, Chris, Aaron,"........s great attitude.....

The entrees consist of a unique and complete selection of tasty chicken, pork, beef and a variety of sauces/topping- all made fresh daily. When we want " heat " they fill that request quite well. There is almost always some on the rotating circular cooktop pushing out tortillas that are 10 min old tops when reaching your plate.

I' ve noticed the lettuce which accomp. many meals-- is very brightly green and looks perfect. Their rice is a solid B++

Quite a following of regulars and families. Prices are reasonable. We are a definite regular there, join the Rewards Club and look on your receipts for nice gestures if you fill out a survey. Well worth while in a nice neighborhood place very consistent service lately and now giving it 5 stars. This is changed recently due to improvements...

Cafe Rio is one of my favorite fast food restaurants! The food is quick to get but doesn't taste like typical fast food. It is slightly more expensive than typical fast food places, but the food quality is higher, so it is well worth the smaller extra price. To me, they are better than Chipotle, which would be the closest competitor. Their food is made fresh. Their tortillas are the bomb! I like that they don't use spiciness to give their food taste. Their mild sauce is more like a lime sauce. Their medium sauce is more like a mild green chile sauce (which I prefer the most). Have not tried their hot sauce. Their steak and barbacoa are really good!!! You can make up your burrito, taco, quesedilla etc. With whatever you want to put in it (some items may cost extra if you go hog wild). You can order for in house dining or get it to go or you can call in ahead of time and pick up your order. Their app even allows for pick up ordering. Their app has a rewards program that gives you 10 bucks off for every hundred you spend. Plus they sometimes do 2X, 3X, or even 4X points which can get you to that hundred that much faster.
