I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights on a five day trip to monterey. A family seems to be running it and they were all extremely friendly and were accomodating. However, this place has a lot of problems and if it were cheaper, probably would have been worth it. But during the busy summer season i payed $74 a night during my stay for a total of $340. This was the cheapest i was able to find. However, for only a few dollars more there were several other (and most likely better) options available. This room is overpriced when you consider its not very clean. I'm almost certain there were bedbugs in the bed or bedding. The blanket had a cigerette burn on it. There was dirty paper towels on the floor when we got in and there was no electricity in half of the room for the first two days of my stay. This includes light in the bathroom, bathroom area, the outlets for the refrigerator and microwave, and the outlets in and around the bathroom. I had to use my phone for light while i showered and had to straighten my hali on my bed with no mirror. I told the staff on the first day of my stay and he kept saying he was going to send someone over....that didn't happen till my third day there. They never once during my stay replace the towels or restock soap...i had to ask for toilet paper. On top of this...on three different occasions i was startled to find the managers staring in through the window. I caught the mother (i assume she is the mother) twice looking in through the window. Both of these times i was in a towel. And one of the guys (i think it's her son) i also found looking through the window. This bothered me greatly. I couldn't rest as i was always worried that they were out the door listening or peaking. In addition, this hotel is placed right near a very busy street with lots of stores and businesses closeby. Traffic and loud noises make it hard to fall asleep and stay asleep. I did appreciate the kindness of the staff....however, there is too much wrong with this place to be worth as much as it costs to stay here. For a few dollars more, you'd be better off staying somewhere else with much...
Read moreSAFETY ALERT** I’m posting this for my daughter who had a very terrifying experience at this hotel last night. She was very tired and no availability at other hotels she had attempted to call. The owner stated (while addressing her as “pretty girl”, “mamita”) that normally they charge $135 but for a pretty girl like her they’d only charge $120. He said he was putting her in “a newly renovated room-room 202”. When she arrived in the room, she realized that the locks/bolt were not functioning, and the owner saw her trying to fix the problem- and said he didn’t realize that these locks weren’t functionable. In the room, she saw blood stained towels and poop stains in the toilet. My daughter was extremely tired and moved a very heavy dresser in front of the door. Approx 30 minutes after she got there, one of the employees knocked on the door twice—my daughter asked what they needed and they didn’t answer. Instead this employee attempted to open the door to her room and let himself in! After a few tries and realizing the dresser was to heavy to move easily, he just left. My daughter gathered her stuff went to the front desk, and questioned the owner and the other employee, and the other employee admitted he tried to open the door mistakenly as he didn’t know she was in that room. Albeit he was there when the room was assigned. The owner also claimed he didn’t recall the room they gave her 30-40 minutes prior to the episode above. She was too scared to stay and ask for the cash back as they wanted cash versus card. One can only imagine what would have happened had she not put the dresser in front of that door. **TRAVELERS BEWARE!! *SAFETY RISK (I’m sorry that I had to select even one star—in my opinion there are no stars at that...
Read moreWARNING! Never stay at Economy Inn, this place is a scam, I would give it no stars at all if I could. We've paid over 130 USD for this landfill - grade... Can I even call it a motel? When we first arrived, we were surprised that it doesn't even have an elevator and we got a heavy suit case so it was very inconvenient for us. But when we entered our room, we got an even bigger surprise: the smell of cigarettes hit us right in the face and it was so strong that I felt like it was poisoning me, somebody clearly violated the no smoking rule in the non-smoking room we reserved. And the place didn't even bother trying to remove the smell. Then when we looked at the door closer, we discovered that the gap under it was so big that my kid could climb through it! No sense of security at all when we later saw that the door lock is broken and we couldn't lock it. The blanket on the bed is full of holes probably burnt by someone lighting a cigar and the few towels in our room looked as dirty as they would've been if they cleaned the floor with it. The bathroom smells even worse than public restrooms. Then there was the TV, which does not work at all; and believe it or not, there was not even a chair in the room! Plus, it doesn't have a kettle or coffee machine either. The furniture also looked as if they got it for free from a garbage truck. Overall, it's such a scam for the heavy price we paid for this...
