I've done 2 classes here so far and I'm not sure I'll sign up for a membership.
I like the red room and the energy, but this format isn't suited for those new to some of the floor exercises. Even if you flag you're a beginner up front, and you visibly look around in confusion, it's hard to flag down the instructor in the middle of it as it's fast paced and loud. Which isn't a bad thing if you know what you're doing. But me and 2 others near me were looking around and just copying the person next to us. I later learnt that the person next to us was on their 100th class that day and some of the stuff they were doing were more advanced modifications. You don't know what you don't know and the instructors don't correct anyone even if you're doing something visibly wrong.
The smoothie bar is good but pricey. There's about 6 smoothie places to get a protein shake around the Seattle Barry's and all at a lower price point for the same quantity and type of ingredients.
I see some folks when they join new get more of an introduction to the place, or a welcome note as some have posted here. I got an email asking to come 20 mins early and when I arrived , I got a 2 min intro to how to read the spot booked to the right treadmill / floor spot and where the dumbbells were placed. Didn't warrant coming in that early and just hanging around.
All in all the energy is great to push yourself, but at this price point and for someone just getting back to their fitness journey it may not be...
Read moreThe workout is ok and there are some good instructors who are good at motivating with the right music. However, I booked one class using Gympass (similar to Classpass) and checked in on the app. I also saw my spot assigned and class synced on the Barry’s app so went ahead to take the class in my assigned spot. I was pulled out of class 3 min in and was told that I didn’t “check in” at the front desk and the spot is assigned to someone else. The front desk person told me that I would get one class reimbursed, which never happened. So similar like the other posts mentioned, it’s an intense workout in a sweaty and crowded environment with not enough light. There’s a chance of getting hurt as the instructor doesn’t have enough attention span to correct your movement and the movement changes every 30 sec so I’m not sure how effective it can be. Thanks to the class incident, I decided to stop going to Barry’s after more than 15 classes. They’re good at using marketing skills, Instagram famous instructors and the club music vibe to make you believe that the workout is worth $30+ per 50 min. But after all you might just burn more calories and fresher air running around lake union two blocks away for 50 min instead, and totally free with no chance of someone stopping your...
Read moreOMG! I can’t believe this happened! I left my $50 Lululemon water bottle at this place after workout. I called right away and the lady picked up the phone confirmed that my water bottle is there and will put under my name, told me I can pick it up anytime. Because I don’t live nearby, not come to downtown often, so I couldn’t pick it up right away. Now I’m coming to pick up my bottle today, they told me they don’t have it and either donated or throw it away. And I’ve been told they can’t keep it for couple weeks, which I understand if those unclaimed bottles there go to donation after certain time. However, I claimed my bottle and it’s under my name, it’s someone’s belonging. How could you just ignore that, throw it away or donate it without my permission. Also, NOBODY told me if I don’t pick it up for a while, it will be gone. Plus, the staff there definitely doesn’t wanna help or any empathy, they can’t take any responsibility! This is ridiculous! Never had any experience like this anywhere. Never ever come here for sure! Terrible experience! No customer...
