After missing our Argosy Cruise, we were in a scramble to find another equally exciting and memorable adventure for my MIL’s 70th birthday celebration. In a fit of desperation, as the cruise ship pulled away from the docks leaving us in the dust, my husband called Cognition Escapes in order to see if there was any possible way to be fit into the schedule for the day. In a turn of luck, Cognition Escapes fit us into, “The Fourth Door,” escape room within 15 minutes of our call, and boy were we grateful! This allowed us to treat my MIL and FIL to their very first escape rooms, as well as introduce us to another escape room to frequent upon visiting Seattle! The escape room was impressive to say the least! The game master stayed in character, and explained the experience well. The room was also challenging, but not “too” challenging where we didn’t enjoy ourselves. We appreciated the cleanliness, creativity, and thought that went into each of the four rooms we went through in the game! I loved the pacing of the experience as well, with giving us 20 minutes per room so we didn’t miss anything along the way. We ended up escaping with 1:03 to spare! A wonderful ending to a difficult start to the day. Our new motto as a result, “when life gives you lemons, go to an escape room!”

Our team recently did the Heist escape room, and it was an amazing experience! The puzzles were quite challenging, but we were guided with timely hints that kept the game fun and engaging. It’s definitely one of the best activities for team building, encouraging collaboration and problem-solving under pressure. The location is unbeatable; just steps away from the iconic Amazon Spheres, making it super convenient. The rooms were well designed and immersive, adding to the overall excitement. Since we had a group of 10, we split into two teams and played parallel activities, which worked out perfectly. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and we left with great memories. Highly recommend this escape room for both fun and bonding!

Four of us went Friday and did the dark room, we escaped with a little over two and a half minutes to spare. We had so much fun we got back to where we were staying and instantly booked the heist for Sunday. The four of us also made it out of that one with just a little over a minute to spare. So even with it being the hardest room at this location it’s still totally doable with minimal people, just have to think outside the box a little to accomplish some tasks. All the puzzles are challenging and so much fun and both storylines were incredibly done! Kay and Chuck were both fantastic! We would definitely recommend! Thanks for having us!

Not sure how I didn't review this - but right before COVID we did the Experiment and The Dark Room - AND HAD A BLAST. No spoilers here but I will tell you we had just as much fun in the waiting room as in the actual rooms. The Dark Room was first, after completing that room we asked immediately if there were any time slots for another room, they said they had an opening in a half hour, which was fine for us because we wanted another crack at the waiting room. As soon as that was solved it was time for The Experiment, which was also super cool and fun and we really would have rounded out the night with completing The Heist if they let us, but they were booked for the evening. We are anxiously awaiting the reopening of this particular spot so we can get there and highly recommend both the rooms we did to others. My favorite was The Dark Room, if you're not scared of the dark definitely go with that one.

Update: don't do The Heist. We finally made it back to do the final room and were really frustrated with this room. The room is very linear and also doesn't provide any sort of guidance of what to look for...so much that our first ten miniature we're full of head scratching and lot is standing around. They indicate they will not allow only 2 to do this room, however there is not enough to keep 4 busy. We had hoped this would be a good experience for a couple of first time escape room people but it was just the opposite. A real disappointment after the good experience in the...

This was a really fun place, my friends and I had a blast here! They have several rooms with different themes that you have to solve to get out. The one we played was the science experiment room. Do not worry, I will give no spoilers!!

The guy who was working there (I didn't catch his name so I can't give him a shout out, but he deserves one!) was really helpful and nice. He explained the rules, showed us the room, and made all of us feel safe and unstressed. We had an hour to figure out all the clues, finish the science experiment, and unlock the door to get out. But we did not feel trapped or rushed or worried at all!

The puzzles were really fun, challenging, but not too difficult. And when we were stuck he would knock on the door and slide a helpful clue under the door to get us going again. There were a couple times where we had the answer but somehow it didn't work in a combination lock, and he got on the intercom and let us know we had the right answer, go back and try it again.

In the end we were able to finish the room in time, and the hints he gave us, while very helpful to jump start the gears in our minds, did not give things away too much. It was a super fun reveal at the end too when we got to finish a real historic science experiment and hear about what it was and how affected our lives even today!

I definitely want to go back and try more rooms out, it's worth it to go. If you have been thinking about trying out an escape room, try out ROOM 5280, it is worth...

If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a dimension-hopping genius while frantically shouting things like “NO! THAT'S THE WRONG BUTTON!” or “GUYS, WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER OR DIE” The 4th Door is your jam.

From the moment we stepped into the first room, it was clear this wasn't your average combo-lock-and-blacklight situation. Each space was stunningly designed and weirdly appealing, like we were inside a sci-fi movie directed by someone who also really loves puzzles. And these puzzles? Chef’s kiss. Clever, varied, and just the right amount of mind-bending. There was barely a padlock in sight — it’s all slick tech and creative mechanics that make you feel very smart… once you’ve stopped bickering about which wire goes where.

And huge props to our game master, Simon, who absolutely crushed it. He set the tone perfectly — friendly, funny, and somehow managing to make us feel both supported and slightly ridiculous (in the best way). The clues were just enough to keep us moving without spoiling anything, and his timing? Impeccable. Simon, if you’re reading this: you’re a legend.

We made it out with a few minutes to spare, slightly sweaty, very proud, and already talking about when we can come back. If you're in Seattle and up for an immersive, story-rich experience that makes your brain do cartwheels, The 4th...
