When I moved back to Seattle, I was searching for the go-to local record store that specializes in buying and selling vintage vinyl. So many shops in the area say they do, but they often under-deliver on both selection and value.
Then I stumbled into Fat Cat Records in Wallingford, and I knew I had found the real deal! The store is super easy to get to, with parking right off of Stone Way N.
The owner, Frank, is awesome. He took his time to make sure I found exactly what I was looking for, and even made some great suggestions I was impressed by. There was zero sales pressure. Just incredible customer service and next-level knowledge.
I was blown away by their selection of vintage Reggae and Jazz LPs, and found some rare presses that I couldn't find anywhere else in town or even online. Everything was priced so much better than other nearby shops. I ended up buying 8 records and over 20 CDs (all in amazing condition).
Frank and his crew are next level: super helpful, and they have everything you need if you’re looking for high-quality, used vinyl, CDs, cassettes, or even audio gear.
If you're in the Seattle area, I highly recommend stopping in to check them out. You won't be...

Despite its seemingly small size, it has a wide selection of titles across multiple genres, many of them rarer or lesser known acts. In addition, the copies are in at least very good condition, and in many cases, it is up to excellent. There is also a decent collection of CDs, plus a few games and other pop memorabilia. The impression I had overall was similar to Jive Time in Fremont, though this place is not as well known. If you are looking for something to expand yoyr library beyond the usual suspects, Fat Cat is a good place...
