This review is specifically about the stylist, Travana, and not the salon or toy store itself.

I’ve been bringing my daughter here for haircuts over the past 2.5 years without any issues—until today. I booked the usual $44 haircut online, which clearly states it includes a hair wash and style (which we’ve had in past).

When Travana called my daughter’s name, the only question she asked me was whether we wanted glitter sprayed in her hair, to which I said yes. She then took my daughter back to begin the appointment. I waited in the toy area as I always have, trusting that the service would be consistent with previous visits.

However, my daughter came out with her hair simply cut and sprayed with glitter—no wash, no style. When I went to pay, I asked why her hair wasn’t washed as advertised. Travana claimed she had asked me beforehand, which she hadn’t. She then raised her voice and acted unprofessionally in front of other clients, children, and staff. Not once did she apologize or acknowledge the misunderstanding.

I chose not to escalate the situation, paid for the service, and did not leave a tip.

Just a heads-up to other parents: be sure to clearly communicate that you want the hair wash included. Apparently, the decision is left to the child otherwise.

Response to owners response: Thank you for your response. If there were a way to leave a review specifically for the stylist, I absolutely would have done that. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences at Snapdoodle over the past 2.5 years, and I truly appreciate the fun, welcoming environment your team creates for kids.

That said, this review was intended to inform other parents—especially those booking with Travana—that unless you explicitly request the wash and style included in the advertised service, it may not be provided. As a paying customer, I believe it’s important for others to be aware of that inconsistency.

Friendly Staff. Quick to smile. They were also very astute at recognizing someone attempting to hit the store. As a retired detective and as someone who appreciates the entrepreneurial spirit I was excited to see how covertly and expeditiously they activated as as a team. I noticed that someone was kind of lurking around the back of the store and had at one point a very expensive toy in their hands. Without an uttered word it only took one employee a look at another employee who then exchanged the same quiet but specific 'be on alert' look that each one in turn shared. I watched as this look became a little more effort and after this look had traveled to no less than 5 people it was translated into a quick purposeful walk to the first employee. Eye movement dictated the direction the employee who had now left her station at the counter the direction she would take to behind the curtain where a gentleman just simply nodded with a knowing smile that signified to me that he was aware of the individual and was watching him back of the house. I was also shopping and perusing the store during this so I can also say that TOP TEN TOYS has an excellent selection of hand puzzles, building and construction kits, STEM based kits, art supplies, YA book selections, prism kites, calico critters including larger than life sized versions of the hopscotch bunny family adorned the top of the Calico Critters display. Colorful examples of puppets of all colors and kinds of creatures were neatly displayed against the eastern front walls. I had a little kids Birthday party and I decided to check this store in my neighborhood out insted of going to target because I only had a few minutes, walked in and it looked cool but overwhelmed, I asked one of the cashiers where could I find anything animals toys or books since that was the birthday theme. She also looked clueless and said I dont know everything is by age. So, I Turn around and I see all the books infrint of he. I get ready to pay and the two cashiers are just there talking to each other and just ignore me and other customers. Finally I get their attention to pay, she asked if I had a membership I said no and I asked how do I get one, she said you only need it if you think you are gonna be coming back here. I told her that I woukd like to sing up. After she gave me my receipt I said thank you and she just rolled her eyes and turned around, in no moment I was ever rude to her. All the staff at that place lack knowledge of their work place and customers service. This review is for the owner. Train your workers that way you have a successful businesses. Now I know why this toy store almost closed down back a few yrs back.
