The cuisine did not meet my expectations. The beef lacked flavor and the rice was mushy, likely due to it not being fresh. Similarly, the beans were overcooked and lacked texture. As a Mexican cuisine enthusiast, I value the freshness and unique flavors of the dishes I prepare. While the serving size of the baby burrito was generous for two people, I prioritize quality over quantity. Unfortunately, the flour tortillas were too soft and easily fell apart, detracting from the overall experience. The salsa was a highlight, adding a fresh burst of flavor, but it couldn't completely mask the fact that the meal was not fresh. My rating for the food quality of the baby burrito is 3 out of 5. Overall, though, I would rate my experience a 4 out of 5. The cleanliness of the establishment receives a 3 out of 5 rating. I arrived at 3:48 p.m. on a Sunday and was pleased to find ample parking. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the business seems to be thriving and the employees appear content with their work. Despite my disappointment with the food, I plan on returning to try other dishes on the menu.

Warning: Not what it used to be. This place used to be amazing. I was a regular back in '99, I worked across the street. Not sure if change in ownership or covid changed it for good. 1) Used to get free chips and warm salsa with your order. Not anymore. 2) Used to be served on a plate with real silverware. Now it's in a clamshell to go container with the cheapest possible plastic utensils. 3) Used to have wooden seating typical of a Mexican restaurant. Now it's gaudy picnic tables as uncomfortable as can be. 4) Food was OK but Way Way too expensive. Got a wet burrito and a drink. With 15% tip almost 20 dollars for one person? And no chips and salsa? Used to be 7 bucks . I get it, inflation, etc but what a rip off. Won't be back, truly sad. Obvious that I'm not the only person who thinks so. Place was empty at 1230 lunch hour. Used to have lines out the door. They are trying to use their baby size burrito fame from the 90's to get cred but it's no longer a good value or a pleasent place to get lunch.

The picture does not do this burrito justice... This thing was monstrous. Absolutely can be eaten over for 3 different meals. Don't be wimps, get it wet. Even if you're getting it to go, it's worth it. You can get this THICCC boy with steak, chicken, pork, and I think even tofu. And for the price, it's definitely worth it. But please... Just split it. Don't be like me and my friends and decide to each get one and then have 4 boxes of leftover burrito and decide then to conqueror the rest of it at night.... We took turns stepping into the other room letting the wind blow if you catch the drift. Note: They ask you how "spicy" you want the burrito, I got spicy and it wasn't spicy so you'll be fine. Just go for it. I also got the ceviche but unfortunately I didn't take a picture of it. It was alright. Just stick with the burrito, it'll be plenty. Hit up the salsa bar before you leave!

I’ve been here several times over the years and each time I find the food to be consistent. But not in a good way.

There’s nothing unpleasant about the food but it’s just … bland. Mexican flavors are so often delicious but Gorditos doesn’t bring them out well. Nothing pops. I’m not sure if it’s a lack of salt or seasoning but either way it’s just fairly disappointing each time.

My comments above are for the burrito, wet burrito and grande burrito. I’ve never ordered non-burritos but I’d be surprised if the quality was substantially different. Today I had the wet regular burrito with steak.

The chips/salsa side is also disappointing. They have the chips sealed in a plastic bag when you order them and the portion size is way bigger than I expected (the regular burrito is huge too so maybe I shouldn’t be surprised). But man these chips also lack so much flavor. Grocery store chips are tastier than these. These are hard and don’t pair very well with the sauces. Thankfully there’s not much desire to finish the bag.

I’m glad that there’s indoor seating again. During COVID it was understandably takeout only. There are 6-8 picnic style bench tables across two floors.

I tried a few of the sauces / salsas that they had and didn’t care for any of them too much.

Finally one detail that I feel a bit silly mentioning in a review but I’ll include anyways is the plastic forks and knives are so flimsy and small and aren’t really that adequate given the size of the wet burrito (not even the grande).

I appreciate it’s a restaurant that’s been around for decades and I like to support local businesses but comparing it to other Mexican options around Seattle or the US or the world (whether burrito focused or not or whether chain or independent) it’s just not deserving of 4.8 stars in my opinion.

If you decide to go then I hope you like it more than I do. I’ll happily agree...

The people at Gorditos are truly great and their food is always the best. Never wavering and throughout the years we know, that we can always expect the food and service to be exceptional. We've NEVER had a bad meal there and that's an exception even with other places we love to eat at. Have to mention this....but Gorditos has a burrito called The Burrito Grande, they call it "the baby burrito". Its so big, its bigger than quite a few newborns..on their walls in the front, they have dozens of pictures with newborns laying side by side with this burrito...it IS quite a burrito...and we are such fans if this restaurant, that my wife and I are always a little sad (we're ok, seriously), but we always wish we had an opportunity to take those photos with our 9 and 3 year old when they were born, but it just didn't work out, circumstances were complicated and by the time we could, they were too big for the "baby and baby" photo. We may be disappointed with that fact, but you have to try their food, you won't be disappointed. Best burrito in the city, not even mentioning all the other items on the menu, which are...

EDIT: I’ve tried this place again and they surpassed my previously low expectations. Granted, I got a burrito where the ingredients are absolutely smothered with a chipotle sauce... but it was tasty! The prices are pretty good overall, and the burrito came out pretty big. I would say you could get a better Mexican meal at 5+ places surrounding this - but they have good options and both my partner’s and my dishes were fairly flavorful. Updated the review to 4 stars from 3.

This place leaves me wanting so much more. The staff were friendly, the space is clean enough, and they have a decent salsa bar... But there was little flavor to speak of. I'm not sure why everyone rates this so highly, it just makes me think that they haven't had truly great Mexican food before.

The salsa was the only saving grace on the flavor side, and even then I was severely disappointed. Due to the high number of good reviews, I will try one or two more things in the future to make a better assessment. As far as I'm concerned, this and Tacos Guyamos will forever remain the most overrated Mexican places in...
