Great haircut, but terrible experience.
Arrived there on time for my appointment. After waiting almost 15 minutes I decided to gently knock the back wall three times to let him know I was waiting -- Dmarkis was in the back having a conversation with someone. He came angrily and told me to just sit and wait. Took him another 10 minutes to finish his conversation.
I would have walked away if it wasn't that I needed the haircut for an event later that day.
Dmarkis kept probing with questions and forcing conversation even after telling him I don't like to talk about myself -- he replied with "This is more than just a haircut". After briefly explaining him what I do (software engineer for an ad-tech company) he just started criticizing my life decisions.
After getting a haircut and explaining him why I was upset he proceeded to tell me I should feel lucky he decided to give me a haircut, and that there are many other cheap places I could have gone instead for a quick haircut.
It's a real shame that Dmarkis treats his customers like that. I don't consider him a bad person, just don't think he understands that respect for people's time goes both ways. I'm sure there are a lot of people that had a great experience with him, wish I could say the same thing.

Original review: "The Owner is unfriendly. They change the time of the appointment without making the effort to call and apologize and see when you are available (you just get a notification through the app that your appointment has changed…).
The one time i missed an appointment because of an emergency trip abroad they billed me the full amount without any empathy as to why i couldn’t come."
After i posted this review, the owner reached out by email to threaten me if i don’t remove the post. This was their first message: "Did you leave a negative review online? I'd appreciate it if you'd take that down. It was rude and unnecessary. I'll ask nicely first."
After that, they kept insulting me and harassing by email and phone...
Read moreI have been seeing Dmarkis for many years and he is fantastic at cutting my hair and making me feel welcome. Therefore, I was excited for him when he decided to open his own place. I think I saw him during his second week after opening and it just felt right. Every time I have been back, it just keeps on feeling better. The Singing Barber is a perfect reflection of Dmarkis. It has style, it has music and all of his clients look happy and relaxed.
The proof is in the pudding. Now that the business is seeing some big successes, I need to plan accordingly and book a little further out - which is okay because I am an adult and can anticipate my needs. So, for the reviewer who was angry that you couldn't get an appointment, try planning ahead like everybody else who wants to go to a great barber!
