Beer here has quickly worked its way into my favorites list, but the brewery as a whole is a clear #1.
The beer style from my experience is primarily fruity sours, then IPA, then dark beer. Darks are great, the occasional IPA is top of my list, but the sours are a clear winner. Every sours brewery has a unique undertone to each beer that identifies it from the brewery. Holy Mountain, Structures, and Urban are all masters of their crafts, but Urban tips the scale for my personal pallet. If you like really tart or more mellow fruitiness, then this is your place.
The service here is top notch. With so many breweries in Seattle, the only thing that really sets them apart (besides the beer) is the location and the staff. From my experience, Urban is one of my two favorite breweries for the "feel good" factor when you walk in. The tasting room staff (Ryan and Bridget) are people I'd love to be friends with, always engaging in fun conversation and plenty of laughs. They remember you and they make you feel welcome. I feel very comfortable introducing my friends to this place for the people alone.
Additionally, the location is a little off the beaten path which makes it busy but not so busy that you can't find a seat. Whether you're here for a larger birthday party or a more intimate game night, this is your place.

Read moreAbsolute favorite Seattle brewery for both me and my girlfriend! This is hands down the #1 stop for any sour ale enthusiast, but don't miss out on UFB hazy IPAs, either. The sours are always tart, punchy, and bursting with flavor, and the hazy IPAs tend to go down smoothly, with varying degrees of delightful bitterness. Don't forget to check out the occasional lager, porter, stout, or grisette that you'll frequently find on the menu, too.
Their handling of crowds during COVID is top notch; you'd be best to expect a wait to get a table, but you can always purchase a crowler or bottle to take to the nearby park (just one block away) to enjoy while you await their text to let you know your table is ready. Oh, and you can place pickup orders directly through their easy-to-use website if you'd simply like to snag some delicious beers to take home or to enjoy with your appropriately distance barbecue.
Other things to note: Best food trucks in all of Seattle Adjacent to several other fantastic breweries, all within walking distance No open tabs (for the time being); swipe/tap to pay each round Have some patience; you'll be handsomely rewarded Wear a damn mask when you're not...
Read moreThis is a trendy brew pub, and they have a pretty broad selection of beers (traditional & more recently developed sours). Stopped in for a pint on a recent evening, and it was really busy - long line to get to the bar to even be able to place our order. Thankfully we were able to figure out which ones we wanted to try, and because they offer a good number of sours (which worked better for some in our small group), but they also had about 4-5 IPA's to choose from, as well as some other traditional style beers (festbier, stout, etc...). Would love to find a more quiet time to be able to go, order a flight, and talk with the employees about the different beers they offer. Could not do that type of experience on the evening we were there - they were having a hard time keeping up with all of the customers. ...
