I had the pleasure of trying Mission BBQ for the first time last night. What started as a quick search for food after class turned into hours of me reflecting on my amazing experience at this restaurant. I didn’t know what Mission was but my craving for food led me to bbq. Upon walking in, I was immediately greeted by multiple employees who truly seemed to care how my day was going. The gentleman behind the counter was very helpful with the menu and explained the concept behind Mission. After placing my order I began to understand what this place was truly about. It started with getting my straw and utensils. They were available in a toolbox which served as the holding device for these items which was very cool. I then began to look around the dining area. The walls were covered with pictures and banners, that commemorated all those who have served, including memorials to 911 all of our US wars, and every branch of service, along with football, helmets, and jerseys for our military teams there are personalized pictures everywhere thanking those who have served and honoring them. When my food was ready and my name was called. I had the privilege of speaking to the manager who happened to know it was the first time. He explained to me that no freezers or microwaves are used and that everything was fresh. Everyone I encountered in the restaurant was extremely nice. When I sat down at my table. There was an employee on break next to me. It was then that a fellow employee left for the night. One employee said to the other thank you for being a great teammate. This statement has been stuck in my head ever since. In a day and age where everyone is so consumed with themselves, to hear one employee, thank the other in that manner was so refreshing. On top of all of this, the food was amazing, everything that I tried was Delicious. When I left the restaurant, the cashier who helped me order, called me by name and told me to have a great night. My entire experience at Mission BBQ was amazing and I will...
Read moreI love the smell of BBQ when I walk in! There was a line this Friday evening but it moved very quickly. They have a lot of interesting and respectful memorabilia to look at while waiting in line. All the workers are current or ex-military or service professionals such as officers or fire-personnel.
The meats are ordered separately then you can decide which kind of sides you would like to have. I selected the salmon with 5 sides. I knew I would be taking home some to mom so I ordered an extra amount of sides. My sides: Baked Beans - lots of meat in the beans and the sauce was super delicious and tangy Mac n Cheese - very filling, was thick in texture with plenty of cheese Collard greens - loved it with the greens cooked to the right texture Green Beans - my favorite, with the beans cooked down, bacon added for flavor and just the right amount of vinegar for taste Sweet potato mash - wonderful with the perfect blend of spices as for the Salmon - It was a large cut but too dry for my taste but mom said she found the salmon to be cooked perfectly
I didn't have a drink but they have bottles in ice of old fashioned pop like Frosty Root Beer or Grape Nee-Hi, they also have a pop machine to serve yourself. They have a cool, extra large tool-box that holds salt, pepper, mustard, etc. On the table there are roles of paper towels and a case holding 6 different types of BBQ sauce to add to your meats. I tried all six of the sauces and like the classic the best. The BBQ sauce taste test is a lot of fun. There is plenty of seating but no padded booths...I guess that is for sissies, lol.
Look at the impressive memorabilia, admire the impressive staff and enjoy that...
Read moreStopped in once for some jalapeno smoked sausage to go. It was a quick in and out but, the experience was great.
Second time in completely wowed me. Some of the crew were out unloading cut wood from the back of a pickup for the smokers. You could smell the deliciousness as soon as you got out of your vehicle.
I was greeted by a friendly woman and she took the time to go over the menu with me. I asked her for some recommendations and they even allowed me to taste a few of the products before ordering. Well, let me say that everything was great and I never felt pressured to purchase anything. The whole staff was super friendly and took all the time they smile on their face as I debated.
I was thinking about just getting some brisket and leaving like I did the time before picking up that smoked jalapeno sausage. Well, I ended up leaving with a lot of brisket, ribs, three large different sides of Mac and cheese, baked beans with brisket and green beans with bacon. They helped out and topped it all off with some hot peach cobbler (for the wife and I) and Super Chocolatey brownies for the kiddos.
They packed it up really nice for me knowing that I had quite a drive before I was able to get back home. The family absolutely loved the meal and I had plenty of brisket left over for myself over the following days. They even gave me some trimmings for Rio the Shepherd at home. All I can say is that it was a great experience and I will definitely be back anytime I'm in the area. Thank you for your kindness and generosity Andrew, Rita and Victoria.
You have a customer for life!!! Thanks again for taking the time and...
