Extra Space Storage — Local services in Shelton

I watched the construction of this facility and when it looked like it was ready to start renting spaces, went to see what they had to offer. Just by chance, I went to the Extra Space website and found out that it is less expensive to rent your space online, you can go to the individual site for any of their locations and see a complete listing of every size that they offer at that facility, along with its amenities, a site map etc. I still had a couple of questions so I called the toll free number for their headquarters and asked how long the web pricing was good for etc., we talked and I was impressed with the company in general so I went back to the site for three location that i needed and rented a storage space, immediately got my site number and gate access code on my receipt. No sooner had I left the site and I received a phone call from the manager of the location welcoming me and inviting me to come down and meet for a your, location my storage unit (it's a pretty large facility with multiple floors and a maze-like layout). Unfortunately I would have left 5 stars but I couldn’t. Facility is clean and new. My move in date,there was no dolly or hand truck of any type. I was told by the 800# where I booked through that there are in every location. If I would have known there wasn’t I would have either rented some through the truck company I rented or found a different facility. Two 16 foot truck loads and the distance from truck to unit was not the best to move by hand. Ended up emptying one truck and returning the next day with more help to move the rest. Paid for 2 days of a truck rental instead of 1, more gas and miles wasted and paid additional. Once speaking to the manager the following day he told me they don’t have dolly and that he has requested prior but didn’t receive. It’s not his fault the company should have...

Right out the gate, we knew we were in good hands not just with the unit but with the educated staff who were very kind and answered any and all questions without hesitation. I truly feel this was the best choice for storage (in my case just 2 months). Clean, safe, easy accessible with 2 different load in points. Short walk to elevator with Dollie’s / hand trucks available. Heating and cooling provided on all floors, which is of course a huge plus as well. Brand new building. If you have the opportunity to work with Terrell Walden I highly recommend it as he knows the place inside and out and takes the right amount of time to ensure you feel good about the unit you decide on.
