WOW! A hidden gem! This was truly one of the best restaurants we have ever been to. Our dining experience was amazing from start to finish. As soon as we walked in, we were kindly greeted and felt welcomed immediately. The restaurant is beautiful and the sign near the entrance stood out to us and had a lovely sentiment “Serving faith, hope, and love.” I had a feeling we were going to have a positive experience just after reading that sign.
Our server, Melia (sp?) was exceptional and provided us with outstanding service. She was kind and attentive. She even asked us where we would like to be seated (booth, table) and the location (towards the front, center or back of restaurant). I wish every server did this! It makes a world of difference (especially for patrons who care where they sit).
The food was remarkable. Top notch Asian cuisine that was fresh and delicious (especially the crispy General Tso chicken). We were just in time to take advantage of their 3 roll sushi lunch special, right before dinner started (3pm on Sundays). The ‘blanc’ fried rice tasted healthy (not salty) - we appreciate low sodium dishes when we’re dining out! It would’ve been nice if there were 1-2 additional spring rolls for the price. For drinks, we ordered the Emerald Lagoon and a Chocolate Martini. The martini wasn’t on the menu and it didn’t come out as expected — she asked what could be done better and to our surprise she brought out another one on the house that tasted superb. She took our recommendations and improved the drink right away. We were extremely pleased that our server took the initiative without us asking. We were blown away by the outstanding service we received and the delicious food we enjoyed. We will surely be back sooner than later — and we’ll make sure to save room for...
Read moreMy family had a lot of fun at dinner tonight! We were impressed on so many levels! The first thing we noticed was the overall calming vibe and cleanliness of the restaurant. Every single staff was friendly and attentive. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean the kid’s booster seat was—it was pristine and not grimy like it usually is at other restaurants.
The food was excellent! It was flavorful and we could tell they use quality ingredients. We felt confident feeding the different dishes to our (baby-led weaning) one-year-old because the food didn’t taste like it was packed with sodium and other junk. We were also surprised how quickly they came out.
We enjoyed ourselves and our baby was beaming the whole time, especially when they gave her the kids chopsticks! She’s too young to fully utilize it on her own, but with a parent’s help, dinner turned into such a special experience for her. We definitely appreciated how our server treated our baby with respect by giving her her own plate or utensils with every course, which is so important for our Montessori approach. It’s in the details!
I am aware that this review may come off as baby-centered, but it was so refreshing to have this experience when kids are often overlooked by restaurants or treated as nothing more than a kid’s menu/crayons/activity sheet beings. I very rarely write reviews and I just have to rave about this place! Red Lotus will definitely be one of our...
Read moreI have lived in Shelton for almost 10 years, and have dined at the Red Lotus for about 9 of those years. Being almost 59 years of age and well-traveled, I can state that I've eaten at many fine and diverse restaurants in various states across the country. As such, I can state that the food at Red Lotus is beyond superb. No matter what meal I order; no matter which drink I am served from the bar, the quality and freshness is astounding. This is by far one of the finest places to eat; the food is unbelievably delicious and flavorful; fresh and extremely satisfying. I would eat dinner there every single day of my life if I could. The owners (Larry and Nia) are genuinely wonderful and kind people who practice what they preach and whose goal in that restaurant is to leave the diners feeling happy and satiated...and they do exactly that. The environment inside and the overall atmosphere is pleasant and appropriate; the decor is pleasing to the eye and the background music is perfect for the experience. Larry and Nia are always on top of everything, making sure each day that the staff is in top shape and the food is perfect. I have always had a pleasant and rewarding experience at the Red Lotus, and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to treat themselves to some of the finest eating in the entire region. Thank you Larry and Nia for your hard work and obvious efforts at operating and maintaining such a fine dining...
