I am a 34 year old male, 195 lbs in semi-athletic shape. Since a young age, I have enjoyed playing a variety of sports from soccer, football, golf, snowmobiling and skiing. For the past 10 years, I would start a gym routine at odd times of year (mostly winter) and work off a random app to help me stay on track pursuing "getting in shape" with undefined plan. My goals for working out were simple: gain flexibility & strength and improve mental health (happiness & confidence). Self-discipline and accountability to myself was a challenge because "something else" would always come up and my routine would suffer as a result.
Six weeks ago (mid-August 2021), a friend referred me to work with Chancellor at his gym Forge: Physio & Performance. Game changer! To me, Forge is on a different level from other gyms because not only is Chancellor the owner, but he is also the founder of the gym as well. He has put countless hours into designing and building his own workout equipment literally. Also besides working with his back, Chancellor also has the brains to help train you by recently earning a degree from Montana State University in Health and Sports Performance. He shows up every day, sometimes as early at 5am to 10pm booked solid working with clients all day. Along with his other trainers Mike, Mason & Trey, they have a personal vested interest in seeing you build strength and reach your full potential.
Another positive Forge offers is the family type atmosphere. Other trainers and fellow peers recognize you by name and help push you forward. I started with two morning sessions 6 weeks ago and am now working out three mornings coached and one independently. We work off three core exercises: squat, bench press and deadlift. In addition, work outs include free weights, body weight and resistance bands. It is not all about how many plates you can throw on the bar, but most importantly correct form to avoid injury. Although it has been relatively short time period, I have already exceeded my personal bests in several areas.
Of the many gyms in Sheridan to choose from, I highly recommend giving Forge Physio & Performance a call and scheduling a workout with Chancellor, Mike, Mason or Trey! They can also help with physical therapy and nutrition. You won't regret it and become addicted on a new...
Read moreWhen I first walked into Forge, my first impression was that this gym had a distinct ethos of raw passion and empowerment… and a lot of metal. Despite my initial nervousness of trying a new place out, it has been an all-around awesome place for working out and (power)lifting (and PT rehab). The owners and trainers at Forge (Mike, Chancellor and Mason) are genuine, kind, nerdy metal heads and very knowledgeable at what they do. They also won’t say no to a home baked lemon bar! I definitely got a sense of the heart and passion they have for lifting and for their work as I’ve followed their personal lifting/ coaching IG pages. It is motivating to see the progress they accomplish with their clients and the obvious pride they have in seeing their clients reach goals is endearing.
Shifting to powerlifting has been a fun challenge for me and something I can consistently and progressively work at. My training with Mike has allowed me to improve lifting technique, establishing a safe and solid foundation for lifting progressively heavier weight and how to progress from here, based on my goals.
I appreciate the fact that where I work out has a sense of community and welcomes you into a “family” - the Forge Fleet. The discipline I’ve gained from lifting, setting personal goals and prioritizing physical health for me is a pillar that empowers me in all others areas of life- personal and professional. Having coaches, trainers, and a “fleet” to help guide and cheer you on is an awesome environment to be in especially as it becomes a place you commit many hours to.
It has also been privilege to read about and learn the backstories of the founding owners Chancellor Perry and Michael Alzheimer and witness their dreams “come to life” with the building of their new location “Forge 4.0” in the old Sheridan Iron Works. And It will be incredible to see the result of their vision (and the dedication, blood, sweat and tears of everyone involved) unfold in the Forge expansion. I feel blessed to be a part of such a bada$$ community and grateful for their sacrifice, commitment and service to the...
Read moreI was 49 yrs old when I started at Forge in a little garage, that was over 1 year age, I had no experience with weight training when I joined. I had just lost 100 pounds with in 9 months and had gained some back and was feeling very weak physically and I did not want to live on 800 calories a day for the rest of my life. The day I joined changed the coarse of my life and health.... the best change I have ever taken, if fact you could say it was a second chance at a brand new life style. Chancelor Perry has by my side the entire time pushing me as well as pulling back when I needed to. He works around the obstacles and never gives up on me, you could say he changed my vision for myself. I used to think inspiration is what I needed to get in shape, but now I understand inspiration gets you to the gym in the beginning but determination and consistency is where you will find results. Recently I joined a small health challenge which last 3 months, I set goals in 3 areas of strength and crushed every goal, not bad for a 50 yr old woman! I have discovered the importance of surrounding myself with those that have similar goals, positive self-improvement and dedication to living a better life. The entire team at Forge is there for their members Chancelor, Michael, Trey and Mason are to notch trainers, willing to be there for you and assist you in transforming your lifestyle, it's not just a gym it's a brand new way of living. At the end of the day I realize I was the only person that could achieve any goals I set forth, the changes had to be made by me; but having the right support team was imperative for me to not only make those necessary changes but to execute them day after day. If you are ready to transform your lifestyle to a healthy way of living Forge is the...
