My wife and I are Sheridan locals and recently had dinner for the first time here on April 4th. We both had pretty high expectations about how the night was going to go after hearing a lot of great things from people. Unfortunately a lot of the night was just a miss. Our reservation was for 7:30 but we arrived early so we sat at the bar until our table was ready. That was the best part of the evening. The building itself is beautiful and we talked with the bartender about a few of the details throughout the restaurant. We should have just stayed at the bar. At 7:30 the hostess came and took us to our table. There were three or four two chair tables open at the time and that’s where we thought we would be going. Instead she sat us at a 4 top table that had a bench seat on one side that was very long and shared with another 4 top table. When I sat down on the bench, the entire bench literally slid almost a foot. I’m very thankful that the gentleman sitting on the other end of the bench wasn’t taking a drink at the time because he would have been wearing it. After apologizing to him and getting the bench pulled back, I sat down again and that’s when the second issue with that bench seat became apparent. I was sitting so much lower than my wife across the table that I literally felt like a toddler. I read another review beforehand about someone having this same issue and thought it was a bit of an exaggeration only to go out first hand it wasn’t. After talking about this seating arrangement for awhile we considered asking to move to a different table but decided against it. That’s when the waiting began. After sitting there for almost 40 mins, we hadn’t seen our server. I finally went to the hostess and informed her that we still hadn’t seen a server at our table. She apologized and ran to the kitchen in search of someone. After that, the rest of the night went smoothly. Our waitress was apologetic about the wait and comped us a dessert. We wanted this night to be a total success but unfortunately it just wasn’t. We were even looking forward to the dress code portion that is listed on their website. We aren’t fancy people so it was going to be a cool change. We went out earlier in the day and purchased new clothes just for dinner that evening. Only to walk in and see a lot of people just wearing normal street clothes and hoodies. For over $300 we just...

On August 14, two friends joined me. I have gone one or more times per week since my first visit July 12, 2025, sometimes alone at the bar and other times with family or friends.
The bartenders are first-rate, and as usual, I started with a Plymouth Gin Martini with Dolin Vermouth 5:1 up- with-a-twist, shaken very cold, and it was perfect, the highest form of pre-prandial delight.
Two of us started with the stellar Burrata Prosciutto Salad, a mix of arugula, thinly sliced fruit, a big glop of delicious burrata, and a single slice of crispy prosciutto laid across. The vinaigrette was sublime. The other had the Crab Salad Tartine (4 stars, he reported).
They had the prime rib eye special, which comes perfectly and delightfully medium rare (if you like your beef medium or medium well, which is to say, overcooked, you can go almost anywhere else in Wyoming and be satisfied).
The first time I came here, I had the Cassoulet (which I like to make) and it was superb. Thinking maybe I’d gotten carried away the first time, so impressed was I by the romantic setting, superb service, and enjoyable piano music, I tried it again. The Cassoulet was once again outstanding.
We all love Pinot Noir, so I ordered a bottle of French pinot noir, Philippe et Arnaud Dabreuil, Hautes Côte de Beaune for $75. I am reluctant to tell you this, since I’m afraid there won’t be any left on my next visit, but as a lover of Red Burgundy, let me tell you that you won’t find a better bottle for that price. It had an exquisite nose, and if they could make cologne like that, I’d wear it.
Le Rêve has occasional specialty-themed tasting nights, which I haven’t yet tried, but I’m signed up for the August 19 “A Night in Japan,” with a tasting menu of modern kaiseki with western touches, and live music by guitarist-songwriter Hiroya Tsukamoto.
I repeat the assertion of my first review of this restaurant: Le Rêve is not on trial: you are....
Read moreSheridan has of late been a bit of a fine dining desert. La Reve seeks to reverse that and does a fine job of doing that. Set in one of Sheridan's historic buildings, the space which has had a number of restaurants in it over the past decades, has been renovated very nicely. The food is primarily aimed at traditional French cuisine. We had a beef tartare that was well presented. The proscuitto peach salad was excellent. Finally, we both had the tournedos, an excellent tenderloin that was cooked to perfection, accompanied with a demiglaze, roasted carrots and horseradish whipped potatoes. Having been to France earlier this year, this meal was equal to any restaurant we went to during that trip, including Michlein restaurants. A great addition to Sheridan. My only suggestion would be that the service might be relaxed somewhat. I realize that the intent is to have a truly fine dining experience, but in my opinion it would still be a fine dining experience, but more enjoyable if they didn't...
