Brought in my machine because the knob to bring the needle down was stuck on something. Pretty pretentious when I came in, mostly kind. It was clear to me they assumed I knew nothing about my machine, and where confused as to why it was taken apart when I had been troubleshooting myself before spending money to have it fixed. I figured they would put the parts back together as I assumed they would want to open it up anyway. When I came in for pick up it was nice to see it was under budget, but the employee told me it was 'mostly putting it back together' what ??? I hope I wasn't charged $130 for just doing very basic work to put it back together. I had explained several times I took it apart to clean and blow out dust and troubleshoot before bringing it in. They did not listen well at all, didn't remember what I brought it in for (I brought it in for the nob bringing the needle down was getting stuck) As someone who has been sewing and working with sewing machines most my life it was definitely a mildly annoying experience. I recommend to be more respectful of all kinds of people that come in, as sewing isn't only for the older generations. Actually listen to what your clients are telling you is wrong. That and I had a machine and serger serviced several years ago else where, for $50 per machine. Admittedly I don't have them break on me often so I don't have a lot of...
Read moreHo-ly smoke, these folks are awesome!
Three other shops told me my machine couldn't be fixed and that I'd have to buy a new one. Frustrated and unconvinced, I spoke to one of the multiple mechanics at City Vacuum & Sewing, and they agreed with me that the other shops were just trying to sell me a new machine.
They had my old serger working like new within two days, AND they gave me some of the most personalized customer service I've ever received; they double-checked with me before doing any work to make sure I approved the cost.
Here's their policy: "If we can't fix it, then no charge. If it is too expensive, then no charge. We set a budget on a repair when you arrive with your vacuum or sewing machine. If we are over budget when performing the repair, we call you. If the repair is not worth pursuing, then there is no charge. "
They stuck to their policy and they were incredibly courteous. Hands...
Read moreWhat a delightful experience! My older Bernina embroidery machine was having issues. I called a couple of dealers and one said "3-4 weeks" and the other was "3-5 weeks"!! A friend told me about CVS so hubby and I drove down. Was tomd 3 DAYS!! It was Thursday afternoon and George told me to call him Saturday if I hadn't heard from him. I called and HE thanked me for calling.
Guess what....MY MACHINE WAS FIXED! Cleaned, sample sewn, ready to go. I will not take my machine anywhere else from here on out. And George told me he has someone to help with repairs of older computerized machines, if they could not repair it. As a former business owner, I know that is a sign of an honest business owner. And one who cares about his customers.
Also wanted to say covid precautions were in place. Being in "that" category I felt safe and very welcome. Thank you so much for your...
