This is the first review I have written on Google, but felt I needed to say something. I went in for unexplained chronic Myalgia (muscle pain, soreness), the front desk staff, the nurses, and the first doctor I had (Dr. Velasquez) were great! I felt like they genuinely cared about my situation, hence the three star rating. My tests all came back normal, (not indicating what was wrong) so I had to go back for more tests. The second doctor I had was the opposite, from the moment she walked in she was referring me to a neurologist specialist, had one more test done (to see if I was having muscle degeneration Scary, right?) , did some simple reflex tests, I told her some of my history and she literally "scoffed", She ended by telling me not to call in for my test results, as I had called in for the last batch, and that they would be ready in a few days to viewed on the website. I don't think I am alone in being concerned when a doctor can't tell you whats wrong, but drops a bomb like "hey, your muscles could be withering away, but be patient for the results". I guess they're too busy to take a minute to let know what the test said, I actually was more or less okay with the experience up to this point, sure I had felt a little unhappy with the treatment, but I figured she had referred me and I wouldn't have to deal with her in the future. So I call the neurology place, which is also through UW, convenient right? He told me they can give me an appointment, but that it will be over a month from now. I say wow, I don't know if I can wait that long to find out what is happening to me, (not only is it painful, it's scary to have them tell you they don't know what it is). By this point it is starting to effect my school and work performance. I ask him if there is somewhere else I can go, he says "well, I can ask her if she will make it urgent". I think wait, this isn't "urgent" right now? I ask him to please see if it can be urgent. I check the website a few days later, the results are up, showing the latest test came back normal (Whew) but on my medical history she has written falsehoods. So at this point I've come to realize that she is judging me and not trying to help me, doesn't that kinda go against the Hippocratic oath? I call today, and this new operator tells me that she put down that it was not an "emergency", So I said I would like a different doctor, my experience was very unsatisfactory, he really seemed apologetic, but for some reason there was no option in my file for an appointment schedule set, Hmmm (I guess she didn't want me wasting anymore of their time). The best he could do was tell them to call me on Monday, and I might get an appointment. I seriously considered putting her name on this review, but I'm a human being, and I treat others the way that I would want to be treated.
The moral of the story is this place is good, but not all the doctors, so ask all and any questions you have in the appointment, because they can't all be trusted, I...
Read moreI went to UW urgent care in Shoreline, for a thyroid issue. I was concerned that I might be at risk of approaching a thyroid storm. The people at the front desk were nice, and I waited with my Mom and my 5 month old infant for an hour, which was fine. The issue was our nurse, Heather. The second we got into the room, she was condescending, and responded very shortly, while asking about my symptoms. I guess there was confusion about if urgent care was right for my situation. I wasn't sure if I was just being sensitive, until my Mother surprised me by responding to Heather's rudeness. (In my life, I've never seen my Mom confront a stranger.) She tried help me tell Heather what my symptoms were, and that I wasn't feeling well, and told her we wouldn't be there if there weren't a good reason. The nurse was unsympathetic to how her tone was being received, and my Mom was told "you just need to stop talking". I was shocked, so offended, and felt bad that my Mom was being so disrespected by Heather, so I told my mom to stop engaging. After Heather left the room, my Mom wanted to go ask the front desk if urgent care wasn't the right place for my needs, but wasn't able to before Heather lead her back to the room. I reminded my Mom that she did not intend to speak with Heather, but rather, with the front desk. So she went back out, and when I peaked out, Heather was with her AGAIN, this time telling my Mother that she was making a scene and told her she should wait in the room or go outside to the car. I asked my Mom what she found out, and Heather walked over and calmly said to me that my Mom needed to wait in the room or in her car. I told nurse Heather, that I wished she would have spoken to us, with that tone, in the room, so the situation wouldn't have happened. She responded telling us again, to sit in the room, but I shared that I didn't feel cared for there, and that we were leaving. In the car my Mom shared with me, that while near the front desk, Heather shamed her saying, "even your daughter was telling you to be quiet". !!!Unbelievable unprofessionalism!!! I found Heather's treatment interesting, because , while in the room, there were signs, stating that "patients come first", and "the staff's listening and responding was important to the facility". Its disappointing that we waited an hour, to be treated so poorly. Needless to say, we will not be back, or recommend the...
