Food Lion — Local services in Siler City

Update: I stopped by on the way back into town to grab one item and entered at 9:57. I was turned away after entering, claiming they were now closed, but when I got back to my car, my phone clock said 9:58 PM. I arrived within the stated business hours. Unlike a restaurant, my presence wasn't going to cause them to close down any noticeably later. These people have seen me come in near 10 PM regularly and get in and out very quickly, which only makes it more annoying. If closing time is 9:57 PM, you need to fix your posted hours. If your clocks are incorrect, you need to look at a clock that syncs online like every computer built in the last 20 years and every cell phone that exists today both can do. One star it is!

Food Lion is a staple of the Carolinas, and this store is no exception. Despite competition from at least three other supermarkets in the same town, this Food Lion provides the most pleasant local shopping experience. Most of the staff are friendly and the checkout lines are rarely ever backed up excluding peak times where it's unavoidable. The store is kept quite clean and the remodel a couple of years ago brought the overall appearance up to a more contemporary standard. However, the prices are going up, even on your basic items. I am also going to add that some employees working there have shown some ill attitudes while I was in line. I was told to go to different line where I had to wait again on someone in front me, even though I was already placing my items down. For that same cashier to accept another customer who was in the back of me. I didn't appreciate that and that same cashier still gives me attitude when I come to shop. I am also an Instacart Shopper and unfortunately most of my orders are for this particular location. I just do my due diligence and go to a different cashier, even if their lane is open.

Furthermore, there are cashiers who do go above and beyond. This young man helped to pay for my groceries when my card declined paying the rest. Long story short, he paid for me and about two weeks later yesterday, I went to pay him back and he declined the payment. Even chasing me down in the parking lot to place it in one of my bags. It was heartwarming and he stated, "It's all love". He needs a raise! Thank you again kind...

This Should be 5 stars, a few years ago it would have been (great prices, wonderful cashiers, good layout and selection, etc.) But this store has a ton of employee shoppers for pickup orders, some of which can ruin an otherwise enjoyable experience. You know, the ones that about run you over, try to push you out of the way, or stand and stare with a hateful look, waiting to pounce on your spot. I can somewhat tolerate such behavior in small doses, but today I had one bump into me while walking and looking at her phone, then say EXCUSE ME, and basically push me out of the way. I won't tolerate such bullying tactics from rude people, and yes I realize it's just a few bad apples but I don't have this issue at all at other food lions (which I've now started going to more).
