Plato's Closet — Local services in Sioux Falls Township

Maybe it is all about approach? This was my first time going to Plato's Closet. Before arriving, I read a lot of horrible reviews on this place and yes, I believe them to be true. However, I also think there may be a way to have a beneficial experience for ourselves as clientele and for the business so they can make earnings also (a win-win).

For instance, if you decide to sell clothes, don't overload it by bringing in garbage bags, giant totes, extra large boxes or just a ton of stuff. Bring only the BEST of the stuff you want to get rid of and keep it at a minimal (sometimes less is more). If the items still have its integrity and the store doesn't already have an abundance of it, they'll pay you decent enough where they can still make a solid profit as well.

For jeans, just make sure they are not faded, unless that is the way they were designed. I brought in 3 pairs of jeans and some boots. They bought 2 pairs of the jeans and the boots. They didn't buy my 3rd pair of jeans, which were brand new, because they were carpenter jeans, and those are not a big seller in the store, which is understandable.

I received wayyyyyy more money from Plato's Closet than I even expected, so in my situation I felt the store was more than fair! I had about a dozen shirts and another pair of boots that I gave to Savers earlier that day, and now looking back, I'm sure I could have received at least $20-$30 extra for those items which would easily cover the costs of going to the movies this upcoming weekend with friends (Suicide Squad is coming out!)

I would give no stars if I could. I sent my mom down while I was at a doctors appointment to drop off clothes. My mother has never done this before and I assured her they would walk her through the process. Not only did they not do this, they were rude to her about not knowing how to correctly check in. A friend of mine behind her recognized my mom and offered her help. As they were checking in they CLEARLY heard the staff staying this stuff is all old anyways. My mother started checking in at 10.. she got the text it was ready at 10:07 .. when I called an asked for the manager she infact told me she was the one who “helped” my mom. Then went on to say she’s being running the business for 20 years she knows what people want. All items but men’s jeans all had been bought this year brand new not on sale , I picked up all my items and left.

My mother recently had her top teeth removed due to an accident she was in and hasn’t received her top dentures yet. She her self is also a smoker and can have that linger smokers smell.. I believe they judged her off her looks over actually sorting through my items . My mother was going to let the situation go and not mention this encounter to me, thanks to my friend behind her who gave me the call. ..

i came in today to give the store some clothes. didn’t take a single item. on their board it states that you guys are in need for denim items and athletic shirts. there was plenty of shorts from h&m and ae (those are college style brands youre looking for) i came back to get my clothes and they didn’t take anything, very surprise and customer service wasn’t the best. My friend has returned a garbage bag of clothes here before too and they only took one one item. she she was also upset that they didn’t take more she had very expensive pieces of clothing so she took the same bag back after like 1 week and got four more things taken out of the same garbage bag. why didn’t they get taken those items out when she took the bag in the first time? there are many pieces of clothing that are in your store that are 10 times worn out and not in the best condition. when I asked the girl why she didn’t take anything she said because of the condition and the stains. I went through every single piece of clothing and washed it before bringing it in so I find it very hard to believe that you guys cannot take anything. i understand you guys have policy’s and are looking for different items of clothing and some brands don’t sell the best at your store and you do have sales 4 times a year. but i was even surprised that you guys couldn’t take one item. i have read all these reviews they all say the same thing. never buying...
