WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OFTEN DIRTY. I don't know how this place has 3.6 stars. I've been going to Kneaders for over 10 years, three different locations in the Salt Lake area, I'd rate them all the same 2 stars today, but in the beginning, 10 years ago, I would've rated them higher. They use to be one of my favorite places to go. Their chicken salad croissant, turkey avocado sandwich, and soup & bread bowl were my favorite and those things still taste great, though even the quality of the food has gone a bit downhill due to what I assume is shotty preparation. Are they worth waiting 30 minutes for? Not even close! And while you wait 30 minutes after ordering, you can sit with your company at a dirty table with dirty floors and put your baby in a dirty sticky high chair. When you're ready to go, you get to wonder where to put your garbage because they only have ONE and it's ALWAYS overflowing. I'm not exaggerating when I say it is like this EVERY SINGLE TIME I go there whether it's a busy lunch rush or a slow afternoon. Meanwhile they have plenty of snooty and young employees on the clock ready to treat you like you're a moron, or impatient, or have unrealistic expectations. What happened to "the customer is always right"? I worked in customer service for years (food and retail) and because of this I am a kind, pleasant and understanding customer in just about every circumstance, but this company needs some kind of outside consulting firm to whip them into shape. Kneaders use to be a nice place to visit, but I have far too many of my "bad customer service" stories come from Kneaders. I have decided now, since the last visit which was in recent weeks, that I just simply wont go there any more. It just isn't worth it! They're as bad as Denny's. We've begun to be regular patrons of Schmidt's Pastry Cottage just southwest of this Kneaders location on South Jordan Parkway. Seriously Kneaders, get some help, I beg you, because you have good product, you just have developed terrible delivery of that product over the last few years. I gave two stars because the food is pretty good (pastries are subpar though), otherwise based on everything else it...
Read moreUpdate** We tried again tonight because I didn't want to drive to another Kneaders and I can't tell you the difference! Awesome!!! I put in a to go order and they put the names on every item. Everything was ready, the staff was super nice and they even made sure the French dip sandwich wasn't just sitting on the counter, they held it until I walked in so it would be hot. Awesome experience and I can't wait to start going back too this Kneaders!
Sometime in 2017 or early 2018* I love Kneaders. They have great food and a fun atmosphere. This location is a problem. It takes FOREVER to get food even if you put in your order online. The online order option is frequently turned off for this location. The outside sign is rarely updated. But the worst part of this location is the cranky woman who works here. I went in to order pies and had missed the cutoff, (no big deal, I knew it was last minute) her reaction to me was a full on angry yell, "We are NO LONGER taking orders for pies!" I was shocked at this treatment and figured it was just a bad day. But every time I have interacted with this woman she has been rude and had the same "put out" attitude. This location is convenient because it is near my home and work, but I avoid it because of her. All the other staff is nice and I feel bad for them. I hope someone can do something about it, she just isn't the best person to interact...
Read moreEDITED to remove one star, after a second invitation (this time courtesy of the City Creek location), in which I had another Reuben + a regular lemonade: The Reuben was extremely salty and the lemonade overtly sweet. So salty was the sandwich that I had to wash it down w/the lemonade, which was so sweet, I had to wash it down too by replacing at least 1/2 of it w/water.
After becoming regulars at Feldmans, I'm afraid Reubens have been "ruined" for us because no other Reuben comes close! Now, I don't recommend it for sandwiches or other entrées, but I still enjoy its pumpkin bread.
--ORIGINAL-- Kneaders never disappoints: It's clean, quick, and offers yummy food. The chain recently treated me to a visit and I couldn't wait to get "my usual" The Reuben b/c it always = exactly how a Reuben is supposed to be. Always a great choice. [EDITED: NOT ANYMORE.]
A couple of things to watch out for: I never order a drink besides water, but this time my invite included another drink so I got the strawberry lemonade. Had to water it down a lot b/c it was TOO sweet. Once I did that, it was good.
I love getting a pickle w/my sandwiches e/time. But the chips are extra (+ TOO salty) and I always end up throwing mine away! I'd like to get the chance to pick between, say, chips, a cup of soup, or a cup of fruit. But overall, Kneaders is yummy & I like...
