AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!
What a mess. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Pobanz for Invisaligns in December 2020.
The equipment used to scan the teeth didn't work properly. It took the tech almost an hour just to scan my teeth because the equipment kept malfunctioning. He had to ask a few people for help.
I filled out the form for the payment plan and their office submitted the claim through my insurance. I don't know what they put on the form. The claim was denied because the insurance doesn't cover cosmetic procedures. Then Dr. Pobanz's office didn't even bother to appeal on my behalf.
I've had doctors appeal things on my behalf without me even being aware they are doing it. Dr. Pobanz's team doesn't do that. Instead of even explaining I have the right to appeal, they asked me to set up a payment arrangement for the full amount.
The same day I found out the claim was denied, I filed an appeal myself and a few days later, the claim was approved. Dr. Pobanz's office actually called me to tell me the claim was approved. I gave them my credit card number to set up monthly recurring payments for the rest of the amount.
It's not like I wasn't in contact with his office...
Even though the appeal was approved well before my scheduled appointment, I was told we would need to reschedule because the Invisaligns weren't in yet.
But that was a lie. The problem wasn't "they weren't in yet".
Almost as an aside, she said that Dr. Pobanz didn't want to start the order until insurance was processed...
-- THEN WHAT IS THE POINT OF MAKING YOUR PATIENTS PAY A DEPOSIT?!?
Read moreI would never recommend Pobanz Orthodontics to my family or friends. I was under the impression that they operated in a very professional manner and throughout my experience with the staff it was far from professional. I was going to pay over $5000 on Invisalign treatment and Pobanz himself only slightly interacted with me twice. The staff is not up front and honest and if they drop the ball they will make the patient feel like it is their fault right to their face. I was told that they never ordered my Invisalign trays because they wanted more money from me, only to find out it was because they dropped the ball and never ordered them. So here I was expected to wait another month because someone dropped to ball. I was treated very unprofessionally and made to feel like it was my fault because I owed them more money. I was told that Pobanz himself was very sorry for what happened, being the extent of the matter and how I was treated as a patient you would think he could pick up the phone himself and call me. But I was not surprised that he didn't, as I stated he only slightly interacted with me twice. After I terminated my contract and made the decision to not receive my Invisalign treatment from Pobanz and his staff, they still tried to deduct the monthly payment from my account. When I called the office about it, without me directly saying anything about why I was calling, they already knew why I was calling. They should have called me to inform me that the deduction was being reversed, that they were aware of the matter and it was being taken care of, but instead I had to reach out to them. This was how my experience was from the get go...the staff is not upfront with their patients at all and only after the fact will they take responsibility for their mistakes. They tried to make up for how I was treated by sending me $10 in gift cards to Starbucks and also mentioned that if I wanted to give them another try they would discount my services. If I was not treated the way I was I may have reconsidered giving them another try at my Orthodontic treatment. My experience with Pobanz Orthodontics was terrible. If you choose to receive any type of treatment from Pobanz Orthodontics I hope your experience is...
Read moreA few years ago, I decided it was finally time to address my smile. I had been self conscious about it for years, particularly because of a lot of missing teeth on the bottom row, which caused my top teeth to sink into a âreverse curve.â It was really affecting my confidence, so I went to my dentist to seek help. Thatâs when I was referred to Dr. John.
Right from the start, Dr. Johnâs professionalism and expertise were evident. He took the time to really understand my needs and explained the process in a way that was clear and reassuring. After an in depth consultation, Dr. John identified that my condition wasnât just a cosmetic issue, but also something that was affecting my overall health. My lower jaw had shrunk due to the missing teeth, which caused me to develop obstructive sleep apnea. Essentially, my tongue was pushing into my airway, making it difficult for me to breathe properly at night.
This was a major revelation for me, and Dr. John explained that in addition to braces, I would need jaw surgery to correct the issue and improve my sleep. I admit, it was a lot to take in, but Dr. John walked me through every step. He worked diligently with the surgeon and my dentist to make sure I was ready for the surgery. His team was incredibly supportive and made sure I understood everything I needed to do.
The surgery itself was a big deal, but after it, my teeth started moving into the correct position, and my smile improved significantly. The process took about 2.5 years total, and it included a mix of braces and surgery. There were moments when it felt like a long journey, but seeing the final results today my teeth are straight, my jaw is aligned, and my sleep apnea is no longer an issue.
I canât thank Dr. John enough for his expertise, his care, and his patience throughout this whole process. I now have the smile I always wanted, and Iâm sleeping better than ever! If youâre considering orthodontics, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. John. Heâs truly one of the best in...
