I I am from New Mexico. I went to South Padre for vacation and because my granddaughter went to get married in the beach. Stopped by the Burrito Express hoping for some yummy burritos. They did not disappoint. It’s kind of like walking into Subway and all the food is behind a glass and the person prepares the meal for you. You can get quesadillas, Tacos, burritos, salads, nachos, and more. I ordered a burrito. The tortilla was huge. I got it with Mexican rice, charro beans (spicy), Carnitas, Cheese, pico de gallo, cilantro, guacamole, and sour cream. And then he rolled it up and Grilled it! It was delicious. It was so good that they have a food truck that they sit out at night. Because Burrito Express closes at three. At night time the same day we went back to the food truck called the Cam shack. We got quesadillas the second time. This place is delicious. I would recommend. They play Christian music, they are Christian. The atmosphere is clean, the bathrooms are clean. The owners are extremely nice. I absolutely loved this place and I wish I would’ve been able to go back in that morning as we were heading out for my 12 hour drive But we did not. You will not be disappointed in this place. Extremely delicious and all...
Read moreThe food was tasty, but the entire flow of the restaurant and the ordering process is a bit of a mess. If there were more people in line it may have helped, but it was unclear where the line actually started and which way the line flowed. While the menu lists the overall items, it doesn't provide any details... so you can get a bowl, but you have no idea what proteins are available. At other burrito places even if it's not listed you can see what your options are, but here everything is covered.
It didn't help that the lady helping us was being trained. She looked at us as if we were going to tell her what we wanted in our bowl and burrito, but with most bins having metal covers we were just guessing what they might have. With the tall sneeze guard and the lady wearing a mask it was also very difficult to hear when we asked questions. But much of this would have been moot if the covers were not on, or if the bins were labeled so we could read them, or if there were more details on the menu board.
I hate leaving negative reviews, but I also hope that feedback can help improve a place. I think this restaurant has great potential if the management took a fresh look at the ordering process and flow to make it easier...
Read moreThe best thing that happened at this place is when the girl decided not to give me my food because i had to keep asking her if the salsa verde was made iwith tamatillo she kept replying its green and spicy. In perfect english and very rudely she kept repeating the red is mild and the green is spicy and would not answer the question. After asking for the manager she complained there was a sneeze guard, their music was too loud and it echoed so she could not understand what I was asking and told me I did not know how ask a question. She also told me she was the manager and after thanking her for helping me to decide to not to frequent this establishment she would let her boss know. I was looking forward to this place as i had a good experience there last year. Now if SPI had Qdoba it would save you 40 % and employees would know how the food is made and not be allowed to be rude to the customers with out consequences. Becareful of this place if you have any...
