Los Pescadores Coffee & Outfitters — Restaurant in South Padre Island

After reading all the glowing reviews, I was very excited to try this place, hoping that at last SPI has a true artisan coffee shop. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Maybe I was there at the wrong time or expectations were set too high. A positive was the atmosphere. It looks like a very pleasant place to spend time and is certainly well-designed. However, this was marred by an organizational failure: there were only two staff at a busy morning time on a holiday weekend. One was preparing avocado toasts, and the barista was busy taking orders and in-between taking orders was trying to rush out the drinks. As a result, wait times and quality suffered. After a very long wait, the first "flat white" that I got was just a watery concoction that lacked any texture or microfoam. This was one of the rare times when I had to send back a drink. The second attempt was better, but still lukewarm and not sufficiently strong for a flat white. It was not great, but acceptable. My suggestions: at busy times there needs to be a second barista to make the drinks, while one takes orders. Also, smaller ceramic cups are needed for flat whites. Currently, the ratio of milk to espresso is too big.

We were in visiting from NM. We found this little gem. Interesting coffee shop, cocktail/beer lounge, fishing spot concept. The facility was clean as were the restrooms. This shop certainly puts out a sweet vibe. We ordered: iced vanilla late, caramel frappes, a pour over and a delicious doughnut. All were very good. BUT the pour over coffee was the star of the show. This coffee (Brazil) was STELLAR. Perfectly brewed and smooth. Some steamed half and half put this pour over on a whole new level. Barista "D" was super friendly, knowledgeable and offered excellent recommendations. The fishing side of the establishment was awesome as well.
