Called in to check on how there store policies work. The woman I spoke to was very polite very informative. They stop taking buys at 6pm —for your information. Extremely long wait times. Roughly (2 hours) I suggest dropping off and doing errands and coming back. They do text you when they are done looking at your items. Really clean neat store. Very busy parking lot.

Was very disappointed at the new look of the store….. Floors look unfinished and dirty However, I was greeted with Fran and Valia with whom are always very pleasant

Great priced name brand items and you can also bring them your old clothes that are in great condition and they will pay you for them.

Sellers beware! Background/context: I graduated college in 2018 and have been working in Boston since. I wear corporate / business casual attire on a regular basis. My husband and I recently moved so I had gone through my "corporate" clothes as many don't fit anymore and I wanted to sell my gently used attire. I went in with 2 baskets and had brands like: Loft, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Talbots, Madewell and Lululemon. I had a Banana Republic and North Face jacket as well as jeans, dresses, slacks, blouses, activewear etc. You'd honestly think I had walked in there carrying two baskets of dog poo with the look the Assistant Manager gave me. She gave me a grueling up down and proceeded to ask "what are you looking for". I said that I was there to sell my clothes and she responded with "well, just so you know, we only accept gently used clothes that were produced within the last year or two" and I nodded. Then she gave me another glare and said "have you been here before" and I said I had shopped, but never sold. I filled out the necessary paperwork and she continued to make comments like "we really only accept quality brands". I was so uncomfortable and mortified because she just kept insinuating I brought in trash. Her tone was incredibly condescending and when I was walking out (she mentioned it would take two hours to look through the clothes) I saw her pick up a Madewell skirt that had fallen off my pile using her two fingers in a pinching motion and toss it back into the basket like it was steaming dog poo. I went and sat in the parking lot and did my best not to cry. My dad had been working in East Windsor and was heading towards home, so he stopped to say hi to me and could tell I was really upset. I told him what had happened and being the sweet man he is, he said "do you want me to go sell them at Plato's closet for you? That lady sounds like a witch and she's definitely going to lowball you. Let's go in there and get your items back because she's not going to appreciate them". So with my dad, I walked back in to collect my things and the humiliation didn't stop!! I told the woman I no longer wanted to sell my clothes there and as I picked up my basket she said "well, yeah, your items were going to be too young for us anyway." Lady!! You didn't even look at ANYTHING that was in the basket.

The Assistant Manager was judgmental, condescending, rude, uppity, and arrogant. I will never go back there to shop or sell.

I have been a lifelong shopper and have often donated or sold my used clothes. I'm aware that places are particular on what they'll accept, but the assistant manager didn't even give me a chance. Long story short, my feelings were hurt and I was embarrassed and had a terrible...

Every experience I have ever had at Clothes Mentor in South Windsor has been AWFUL! Every time I bring clothing to sell here, the staff is condescending, they barely accept anything, and offer around $3 (sometimes less) for the items they do accept. Whenever I shop here I find clothes that are shrunken, have holes, have missing embellishments, are pilling, shoes with mismatched sizes and clothes with labels MUCH older than the labels on mine that they pass on for being a year or 2 past their supposed 2 year guidelines. For reference, I am a woman in my late 20's and care for my clothing very meticulously. I buy clothing at high end stores like Nordstroms, Jcrew, Madewell, Anthropologie amongst other popular pricy stores. I have worked in a consignment store in the past and know what to look for in terms of style, condition and season and I know my price points. I have brought clothing to my favorite consignment shop, Savvy Swap in Portland and had all my items happily accepted, priced appropriately and sold. Today at Clothes Mentor after being ignored for 5-10 minutes by an employee that was supposed to be reviewing items but was instead conversating with an aquiantance, I was offered $3 for a current-label like-new Jcrew top that I paid $98 for, and $3 for a like-new Anthropologie zip hoodie that retails for at least $78. I pointed out to the woman how recently I bought the items and how much I paid. She responded shortly with "Resale. You can't get that much." But I do know it can be sold for at least $28 (1/3rd of retail) and get roughly 40% of that because I have worked in "resale"... So I took my items back and will continue to bring them to Savvy Swap instead. Wendy, the owner of Clothes Mentor once showed me a Louis Vuitton I had asked to see and said "I like to let everyone see our Louis because who knows... someday you might win the lottery." Funny thing is I had enough money in my bank account to buy the bag at least 10x over but I decided I'd rather not hand my money over to someone that judges their paying customers in such a condescending manner. Keep your money. Consign/Sell elsewhere. This place...

I've come here after I was referred specifically for their maternity section, I'm 6 mo. pregnant, first time mom. I believe most women who have had children can attest to the difficulties shopping as your body changes. I was relieved that CM has a larger than most selection for expecting moms, and have come here a few times in distress as my closet grows more impractical for my baby bump.

Yesterday, I was checking out with a lovely young lady, when the owner (I presume based on the other negative comments), engaged in a rather off-putting conversation with me. She was at another register and inserted herself in our conversation - which is usually fine, I'm very friendly (southern roots) and will small talk with anybody. She first asked my due date, shrugged her shoulders in disbelief, looked at my body and then actually asked me if I was carrying triplets. I looked at the girl checking me out, almost in an effort to clarify I misheard, but the second hand embarrassment written on her face assured me I heard correctly. I realized the woman was serious as she paused waiting for my answer. I resisted the urge to engage in confrontation and left.

I found her to be extremely rude, to say the very least. I second guessed if this was someone who was socially inept, but I felt her comments to be targeted and catty. I'm not an overly sensitive person, but I'm smart enough to sense malicious intentions of other women. It was unwarranted, and unbecoming of anyone working in customer service, let alone a women only clothing store.

Happy to bring my business elsewhere to not be insulted or body...
