I recently went to Burtons with my girlfriend where I ordered a NY Strip (MW) and then my girlfriend got a Filet Mignon (MW) as we were celebrating our 1 year anniversary. All was going well until I got my NY Strip back which was supposed to be cooked at medium well back and it was dry as a bone and tasted disgusting when I tried to take a bite. I unfortunately had to send it back but when I sent it back I had to watch my girlfriend eat meanwhile I had nothing to eat and as I'm sure you all know watching your significant other eat or being watched eating is never fun. I then got my NY Strip back and the manager was nice enough to be there to make sure it looked okay but unfortunately it was was beyond pink and obviously not cooked enough so I didn't want to send another steak back and make my girlfriend have to eat longer by herself even though she was already nearly finished with her plate by the time I got to mine. You would think that after all that Burtons would take care of the meal after it was already a $39 steak and we have spent a great deal of money on the meal already as well as apps and wine. But unfortunately they thought taking one of the $17 apps off the check was the best idea which was sort of a slap in the face after how terrible the dinner went and how poor of a service it was. How am I supposed to recommend this place to other people after this terrible experience. I've had great food before but seeing how poorly they handled the situation just shows that they truly do not care about their customers. I just wanted to share that with you guys as I will definitely not be wasting my money here anymore. Very...
Read moreI've heard good things and read good reviews about Burton's, so I figured we would give it a shot tonight. We were greeted by the hostess, who wasn't exactly what you would call warm and inviting. Destiny was our server, and she provided great service throughout. We started with a shareable rustic roll served with pesto, herbed garlic butter, and olive tapenade. Delicious. She had the chicken cordon bleu with not so garlicky mashed potatoes and green beans. It had a nice flavor, containing one thin slice of prosciutto and a bit of provolone. A rather non-existent (dried up) lemon-butter sauce sat atop the small, flat medallions. There is a reason why the prosciutto and cheese are usually rolled up into the chicken....its's so they stay moist, althewhile flavoring the chicken as it cooks. Once again, it was tasty though. I rather enjoyed my 12 oz strip steak, which was perfectly cooked. I looked forward to savoring the bone marrow butter, but when served there was only one small swath of it in the center of the steak. Very tasty nonetheless, as was the steak. They ran out of brussel sprouts so that was a bit of a bummer. Some may think the steak was a little heavily seasoned with salt, but that is to my liking so I didn't mind it. As we walked out, the 3 girls congregating at the hostess station didn't even seem to notice us as we passed by about three feet away. No "have a nice night" or "thanks for coming". Not a huge deal, but not ideal either. Not sure we will be back, but it was...
Read moreA Girl's Day out and a late lunch.
We were seated fairly quickly inside, which was nice seeing how busy they were for a Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
Cocktails were fairly simple Red Pinot and a Mai Tai. My friend ordered 2. My Mai Tai was nice but seemed a bit weak.
For lunch, I had the California Chicken Sandwich with fries. The sandwich was delicious and as I expected. The fries were overwhelming in their portion and not very hot. I ended up eating only about 5 of them. Cooking consistency was a bit darker than I liked.
My friend ordered the Shortrib Grilled Cheese only to find out 5 minutes later it would take 4 hours. Apparently, it would be ready for supper but not the lunch crowd. She was given a menu, and our waiter said he'd be back in 5 minutes. We'll, 5 minutes turned to 15. She finally got to order the Maxx Burger with added bacon and parmesan truffle fries. She demolished her meal and was pleased with my suggestion of it.
The wait staff was pleasant but busy. This place was busy upon arrival and even busier when we left.
My only complaints are minimal and that deals with the sink on the right in the ladies room that wasn't functioning, plus the stalls needed some serious dusting, and the fact that a fork was in an aisle ( on the way to & from the restrooms) and not one of the waitstaff bent down to pick it up.
Otherwise a...
