1 STAR BECAUSE I CAN’T LEAVE A NEGATIVE STAR RATING….. I purchased a 3+ lb, $33 fresh salmon filet from the meat dept. 7.3, which they packaged, kept it refrigerated and when I opened the package to cook it 4 days later 7.7, it was mushy and stunk so bad, it made everyone in the house sick to their stomach and the house smelled like rotten fish for over 24 hrs. So 7.7 I went to the closer to me Kroger (Hernando) and spoke with the manager there and asked about an exchange and explained the situation. I was told because the purchase was over $10, I had to return it to the Stateline rd store. Didn’t make sense to me from a customer service standpoint but I said ok. Since we had been craving and planning to eat salmon, while at the Hernando store I purchased another $27+ salmon filet along with some other items and we cooked our salmon 7.7. 7.8 am I take the rotten salmon to the stateline rd store to discuss the situation and see if there could be a resolution. I went to guest services and spoke with the employee there and she asked that I take the rotten fish to the meat dept. and discuss with them. Back to the meat dept. I went and the employee that packaged the salmon initially was there and I proceeded to tell him about the salmon. Before I could finish speaking, he started telling me that all salmon would be spoiled after 4 days and there was nothing wrong with the product sold. He stated that the “sell by” date would have been 7.6 and would be fine by that date but not 7.7. I disagreed and he said that the manager would have to get involved for any resolution. I stated that I had purchased another replacement filet from Hernando 7.7 and was just looking to have the $33 refunded or at least credited. The manager was called and I went to the front of the store to wait on their arrival. The manager showed up and he and the meat dept. employee discussed the purchase date and “sell by” date immediately started saying the salmon was good on 7.6 but not good on 7.7. Then the manager said that maybe there was something wrong with the “refrigeration” or maybe I “should have frozen it until use”. I asked why would I buy fresh fish to freeze it for 48 hrs to thaw it out and eat it? I told the manager to feel the salmon in the bag because it was STILL COLD from the fridge. He said he would not offer a refund because of the “sell by” date. So I asked if he poured all milk out because of a “sell by” date and he said that milk is not the same and I told him the same point with the salmon. He said again he would not offer any refund even with me buying ANOTHER salmon filet 7.7 from Hernando. Trying to keep my composure, I said “so there’s nothing you’re willing to do about a bad product? Refrigerated fresh salmon doesn’t spoil in 4 days.” I was again told “No.”. So I left the rotted salmon along with a few expletives with them and walked out the door. With as much as food costs today, it was completely unprofessional how the situation was handled. $33 may not mean much to Kroger but for my family, that’s a costly dinner and what was going to be a “treat” dinner, it turned into a hellacious headache. Not to mention the additional time for the trip to the store 7.7 in Hernando and then to stateline rd store on 7.8 to hear some BS story from the manager and the meat dept. employee. I love my Hernando Kroger but sorry, Stateline Rd. store ruined it for Kroger. SuperLo & Piggly Wiggly will be getting my future grocery business. Thanks for reading my enjoyable Kroger shopping...
Read moreI went up there around 10:00pm. By 10:30 they did the 30 minute mark announcement for closing. I sat there confused with a cart FULL of food because on Facebook AND google says it closes at 12:00am. So I grabbed a few more things thinking it wasn’t a huge deal and that I would just get a cashier to check me out because they are super fast. I made it up to the front at the 15 minute mark to find not one check out open. Only self check out was open. So I had to check myself out which took probably about 20 minutes since I had anticipated the store not closing for another hour and for a cashier to check me out. So instead I sat there and checked out and the whole time I had employees staring at me talking about how “ridiculous” this is and how they need to lock the doors before the store closes. They gave me the “stink eye” the whole time I was checking out. I even apologized and they had no response. Would it of not been easier for an employee to check me out rather than just sit there and watch me do it while complaining? I brought up that the website said y’all were open until 12:00 and she didn’t believe me at first until I stated I googled this particular Kroger and she said “yeah well someone needs to fix that”. Very terrible and humiliating experience. And by the looks of this Facebook page and the other many horrible reviews, I’m sure nothing will be done about this. It will not let me post the screen shots I have of the...

I also must add that I received a dose of reality during this visit. A saw and reported a store theft to multiple store personnel, including the manager, and the response was laughable at best. No, I did NOT expect a city block lock down but I definitely didn't expect to hear store security be called for over the store phone, for them to slowly respond, the store personnel gather & congregate like they were at the water cooler, the "alleged " thief go thru self-check witht the decoy items as the store personnel watched her then the "alleged " thief stroll right out the store and then for the manager to say "Wait. Let me go outside and see if I can spot her". Huh?!? Spot her? She was just in your store on aisle 13 stuffing the items down the front of her blue stretch jeans under her oversized olive green t-shirt! Just say you have no Loss Prevention and if you do, you & your personnel either don't know it or are afraid to implement it! This lady was a pro! She knew exactly where to stand and not be seen by the cameras. She came, sought and did her job. Kroger personnel did not!
But is this another result of a poorly...
