I had to write this review. I travel a lot for work and hadn't been in for a touch up in awhile. I booked my appointment while at work. Came back in town, checked in with the husband and kids and found out that the kids got out early the next day. He told me he needed me to cancel the appointment to pick up the kids. They come first so... Trying to value the salons time, I went on the website immediately to see if I could reschedule, I could not. So I set my alarm for 9am when they open, to let them know as soon as I possibly could. Jet lagged from work, soon as my alarm woke me up, I called. The receptionist said it was too late to cancel. There would be a 45 dollar fee. Ok, I asked to speak to the manager and explained the situation. She said "we get these calls all day and I can't do it for you". I've been going to them for a little over a year now and I think collectively I've spent close to 1,000 on my hair in that time. So clearly, Iām worth more than 45 dollars. The last time I was there, she asked me to write a review for Studio Lush. I could've wrote, they're great and left it at that or said I'd do it and not do it. Instead I took 3 pictures at 3 different angles and remarked on everything I could think I noticed while I'd been going there. Hoping my review got them more business. I didn't realize where she asked me to post would put my first and last name out there but I left it. It got over 2,000 views. I'm not into social media the way that a lot of people are. I am private but I wanted to help. I really thought she had asked me to post it there specifically as a favor. I don't care or need to have pictures of me that aren't for friends and family only. I mentioned this to her thinking that hopefully out of the number of people that saw that post, if one of them went in, she for sure got more than 45 dollars in business from it. She then says, āWell⦠Did you lie???ā And that I'm trying to manipulate her. Wow. What???? That's a first for me. As someone who works in customer service, I've been recognized many times for my kindness and going over and beyond for our customers. I would NEVER talk to a customer like this and to truly be honest, I donāt talk to ANYONE like this. I'm surrounded by business owners, my husband and friends own businesses. I told my husband and he could not believe a business owner talked to customers that way. They do a good job. I will not take that from them. I was very supportive of the owner on social media because I know it's not easy to run a business. I was happy for her and proud of her when she shared milestones without knowing her that well. It really was hurtful to be talked to in the manor she did. I'm still shocked writing this. Also, looking at the other reviews, she expects you to be understanding when she canāt make it. I wish Dani, my stylist the best but I cannot tell anyone to drop 400 dollars, more or less, for this treatment. It's not what you say so much as how you say it. Spend your hard earned money where you are treated like your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis lady Simone or Symone, not quite sure of the spelling of her name, appeared to be a nice enough person. What I have an issue with is that she cut about 4 inches of hair from my head for a trim when I specifically told her I only wanted very little cut from my hair. She told me my ends weren't bad and assured me that it wouldnt be a problem. I agreed on a inch at the most. She trimmed my hair accordingly until she got to the back where I couldn't see in the mirror. She asked about it previously to trimming and I explained to her my hair grows longer in the back and not to try to cut it even with the rest because it will only gow back the same way. She did the opposite. I should have known when after the trim she asked me if my hair grew Fast. Once I got home and stretched my hair out it all my since. 4 inches was gone in an attempt to even my hair which grows longer in the back. We discussed how my hair maturely grows in a V so I was pissed to see what she had did. I called the owner and she assured me that she would offer some resolve such as a treatment or something and would speak to the lady and get back to me. That was a month ago And nothing. I'm writing now because every time I have to wash or manage my hair I am pissed. At half an inch a month this will take 8 freaking months to grow back. Also, I spent over $150 and besides my issue the experience was not lush. I was under the impressed it was a lush experience you were paying extra for as their prices are high. I wasn't offered wine like I saw on line. I wasn't even offered a water. Just a less than basic experience considering 4 inches of my hair was cut, with an extra high price tag. Over $150 for a silk press and steam treatment that lasted about 10 mins or so, and 4 inches of hair cut off. My hair was down to the tattoo in the small of my back, now it's barely bra strap length. I been past bar strap length years ago. As African American women it's already hard to maintain and grow the length we have, to cut 4 inches off like it wasn't nothing is just disrespectful. I should have known when I saw that lil bob she had, but I didn't judge. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else if you are trying to maintain your length. The owner didn't even have the decency to call back. I guess she took the stylist word, but what would she expect her to say? " I cut off 4 inches of this ladies healthy hair, and then I asked her if her hair grows fast". If this had been a few years back I wouldn't be handling this as dignified as I have. Go somewhere else. Even if my hair had not been cut it's just not worth the price tag. Overall nice shop but not the lush experience you will be paying for. You've...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate The owner Jasmere reached out and apologized for the bad service I received. In all honesty, I hadn't expected anyone to contact me, but I'm really glad that she did. It does make me think about perhaps booking a different stylist and giving it one last try.
It's clear that Jasmere cares about her business and obviously can't control the behaviors of other stylist. I appreciate the partial refund and her willingness to make things right!
This was my 2nd experience here at Studio Lush and I'm totally disappointed with the service. My first experience was awhile ago, so I decided to give it a try again, but with a different stylist.
First Offense: The stylist ran 45minutes behind and didn't say a word to me. After asking the front-desk how much longer, I was informed just 10 more minutes. Not a great first impression. It's disrespectful to the client to not even acknowledge them and if you're a stylist that likes to double-book, inform your client. I would have chosen someone else or not gone.
Second Offense: The shampoo service is something I always look forward to and they use a brush scrubby for your scalp which was nice. The front of my head it pretty sensitive and the scrubby irritated/lightly abraded my scalp. When I told the stylist, she was like, "no I didn't...I don't see any abrasions..." But I could feel it stinging and I had no reason to make it up. I asked her if she had any oil or anything to put on it...she was visibly irritated and just gave me a flat-out "NO."
Third Offense: I'm a new client. She didn't ask if I had any concerns about my hair, what my hair goals were...NOTHING.
I'm mostly disappointed because I was seeking a professional woman/Black-owned salon that specialized in natural hair.
Instead, what I got was a bad attitude, scraped scalp...and I'm out of $110 for a VERY mediocre hair style.
Not to mention that the ceiling caved in from all the rain. No Caution sign, no towels on the floor...but certainly wet footprints everywhere...talk about a liability stepping off the landing of the shampoo bowl.
I feel totally cat-fished. What you see on Instagram just isn't what you get. I won't be back and unfortunately, I certainly won't...
