A&W Restaurant — Restaurant in Berkley

Ok, listen up people, and younger people. A&W is an old establishment. Has been around since the early 60's. I have grown up going there with my parents. (60's) and always loved the frosty mugs of the famous Root Beer, and we would get the foot long hot dogs. Very tasty.. This particular A&W in Berkley has been open for at least 50 yrs. I am a 67 yr old grandma. Oh the memories. The building is the iconic building when it first opened. Don't change the style.The car hops did use roller skates, however, the younger people working now don't know how and do not have skates. I guess the owners did away with skates. Boo!! It adds to the nostalgic mood. A&W Root Beer has always been consistant. No changes please. The food has been the same, a few added on. I enjoy the Poppa Burger with everything and Root Beer. Yummy! The classic cars were the cars that were around when I was a teen, and they were at the Drive Ins. To see them now just makes me happy. The old days weren't so bad. This place brings back many...

This location frequently closes super early with no notice. Last week I stopped by to grab a root beer float at 8:40, I was told they were already closed. Keep in mind, stated closing time was 9pm. Today I pull up again for a root beer float at 8:15pm. When I pulled in the lights were on. I waited for someone until 8:22pm. No one ever answered. I pull into a different Stall push Button then notice that the building is now dark and I see a “closed,” sign. Closed at 8:24 when signage says they’re supposed to close at 9. The car next to me said that they gave her the wrong food and hadn’t been answering the buzzer. We then see an employee storm out of the building to her car and fly off. Looks like she may have been the only one working. Which sucks for her. But she could’ve let us know that. If they’re going to keep closing early like this then the operating times...

EDIT- Things have changed for the better. For the longest time things were always wrong. Now, for the longest time things are consistently right & good.

I will change my rating after my next visit or possibly more... We're going to give it another chance but our last 4 times our order has been wrong. You'd think nothing odd about adding bacon or subtracting lettuce & tomatoes. Odd that they never forget to charge us for the bacon though. Plus, it's a bit of a pain driving off just to turn around to wait again. I wish I had more good stuff to say because we like it when it's right. - As of late, things have been better for the most part. Not ready to give...
