Get your vehicle registration here!
Easiest, fastest spot in Texas to do so. Vehicle registration is in the basement of the courthouse at the South entrance (the entrance facing Southlake Boulevard). The structure is a stand-alone courthouse in the exact center of the square with all of the shops. Being consistent is important, so this is a chore I consistently put off. Sadly, my registration expired last week, it had to be done. Coming to this location eased the pain considerably, as it always has before. I hadn't even pulled my number yet before they called it when I walked through the double doors! Come to think of it, I've only had to wait long enough to actually sit in a chair one time (and not because it's too cramped and crowded like their bigger brother in Hurst) in the 5+ years I've been coming here. This place is truly a hidden gem of DFW - The polar opposite of that wretched Hurst DMV location. Be aware that even though Texas is now, "Two steps, one sticker," and they have a database of inspections, bring your proof of inspection anyways. The clerk asked me for it, so I was glad I thought to grab it. They accept cash and checks, as well as credit/debit cards - with a $2.00 convenience(?) fee. The total is about $85.00, but I'd happily pay $100.00 if I was guaranteed to receive the service I've always had from this location!
*Note that they do NOT offer the full services of a true DPS/DMV facility, such as driving tests, new license photos, etc. You will have to suck it up and go to one of the scarier locations for those things, so call ahead if in doubt!
And lastly.., the bonus: You can even shop here afterwards to celebrate your...
Read moreThe quickest experience I’ve ever had with ANY government or automobile service needed!! I had planned on going to the Hurst DMV, and every experience there has been an absolute nightmare. Then I was told I didn’t have to drive as far so I was very pleased, but still anticipating a 3-hour wait with rude government workers. I was there for less than 5 minutes, and was greeted by the friendliest faces. I was helped by Shanee (I think that’s what her name was) and she was very sweet and swift with...
Read moreThey could not get me my inspection sticker because their system was down. When I asked if they could give me a note saying so (in case I got pulled over) they said they could not. I asked to speak with a manager who told me it was my fault I waited so long to get an inspection before finally handing me a pre written note that they actually had the whole time. They were very defensive and off putting. Very poor experience, I would expect better from the City of Southlake. ...
