Went to purchase a firearm! I’ve probably purchased 20 in my life with no trouble or very little! Was a little harder this time because I had moved about a year earlier (Understandable) I was told because my background check was on hold. I could do the process and take delivery once the check was complete, again totally fine. I was told to go back home and get a vehicle registration that showed the correct address for them to verify to do that initial paperwork on the very first day. I was fine with that 50 mile round-trip because it was procedure! And I tried to oblige and do everything the right way 4 days later, I get a call that my background was passed and I can come pick up the pistol! Process there seems to be going smooth, he asked for my license again to verify it’s me! Maybe I should’ve kept my mouth shut, but I re-verified that the license doesn’t have the right address, but I had already been verified with the alternate identity He told me that should be fine since I was already verified, but he did sound a little hesitant like he wasn’t sure When the manager came back, he immediately said I would have to drive the 50 miles round-trip again, he said it didn’t matter that I was verified properly the first time! If that was the case, why make me go to 50 mile round-trip the first time if they were going to have to have it at the time of delivery? So I’m a little frustrated but thinking OK let me see what I can figure out So I go out to the truck sit for a few minutes and I’ll bring in Another motor vehicle registration with my name on it(He says he can’t use that one because it’s expired) I also show him a bill of sale where I purchased a truck last year, I show him my IRS federal ID number on my phone It’s actually a picture of the form from the IRS with my name and address on it Had an insurance card that was still current with my name and address on it Keep in mind they did verify me properly and acceptable when I was there four days ago to start the process And because he can tell, I’m getting frustrated that he’s not wanting to accept any of my documents which shouldn’t have to be done a second time He says he’s just going to deny my order and put red flagged my account so I can’t buy a pistol for 30 days I am a military veteran Have had a CW P, I did let it expire because I never actually carry a weapon on me, but still I’ve been through all of those so obviously I’m an upstanding person that qualifies for a pistol Never in my life have I dealt with someone that was so unprofessional and rude and then does that out of sight just because I’m frustrating that he’s not willing to try and help me make things go smooth Academy has lost a customer for life and I will make sure anyone else that I cross that’s looking for any sporting and hunting good to go to Cabella or a few of the other competitors to get a little more friendlier and smoother service
Edit follow up I went directly to Competitor about 15 miles away They did not have the same pistol. I was looking at Academy, but saw one on sale that I liked. I bought it on the spot with the documents. I tried to show them at academy. When I told them my experience, they did not see any reason why I should not have been able to buy the one I just left with an attempt to buy Obviously, TONY had no knowledge about what was acceptable or it was just having a bad day and trying to prove a point! Read moreYesterday I went to academy near the mall with my daughter. Great selection of things that my daughter needs for the sports she plays since most places don’t have shorts and things out right now. My daughter went to the fitting room to try on a few things, everything and everyone in the store was friendly up until this point. Although this situation had nothing to do with me it has steered me from EVER returning. While waiting outside the fitting room I over heard the lady working the fitting room being very rude to another lady who’s child was also trying on some clothes. The daughter must have been frustrated because quite a few things didn’t seem to fit as well as she expected and the mother was trying to help her daughter find something that would work for her. The mother stepped out to grab something else for her daughter and when she came back the employee asked her if she was going back out and that she needed to take all of the clothes she brought in back out and put them where they belong, because it was piling up! The customer turned around and looked at the employee and said excuse me that is your job. The employee was very rude and had an attitude. When the customer asked for a manager the employee told the customer I don’t know go find em yourself. I entered the fitting room and called for my daughter to make sure everything was ok. The other ladies daughter came out of the dressing room and had a few more items she put on the counter and the employee told the daughter to take the things with her that her momma could put them up! Very rude to that little girl for no reason. Then the employee looked to me and said some people are just so rude, as if I was going to encourage her behavior. First of all like I said I wasn’t involved but if you work in a fitting room it is your job to put things back up that paying customers may not want or need. Second what type of customer service exactly is this?!? I have never encountered someone so rude and hateful to a customer and then have the audacity to turn and speak to me as if I would have her side when she was completely in the wrong. Academy just because of how this employee treated another customer and the level of disrespect I witnessed i will not be returning. You have lost a customer for life. If that was me or my daughter in that situation i can only imagine how it would have turned out. I do not tolerate being disrespected in that matter for no reason at all! Read moreThe worst experience I've ever had at any store. They make up their own policies to prevent your american rights without telling you up front. Waited weeks, for an FFL item to arrive just to be told I couldn't pick it up due to an atf law that doesn't go into effect until August!!! Psa allowed me to send it there. Waited weeks. Now I'm told it has to be shipped back to Columbia before I even get a refund. Ive never broken laws, I'm a good citizen and I'm being prevented of my American rights. Tony was a complete pompous a hole and the store manager was as well. They wouldn't ship it to psa in Greenville or help out at all. I will NEVER do business with academy again. I'll be filing multiple complaints and seeking legal action if need be. Live in America, follow laws and get treated like trash. I asked if I could call corporate and the store manager would not give me the number. He said he didn't care and it wouldn't make a difference. I've waited weeks for this FFL item, now I have to deal with PSA terrible customer service and I'm told it has to ship back to Columbia before I get a refund and they took the money out of my account weeks ago. Why are they not on top of this? Because of an atf ruling going into effect in August, I couldn't pick up this item. They said it's a NEW company policy and that I couldn't do anything about it and they would not work with me. They were incredible rude and pompous and I will be seeking to have these people fired for incompetence.
