I ordered some flowers for our vow renewal. I called in the order, telling her that it was literally a ten minute ceremony at someone's house so I didn't want expensive or extravagent, as we had just been married one year. She suggested some things over email and was responsive. She suggested something and said choosing that would be "more expensive". So I reiterated that this was a ten minute ceremony on someone's deck and that I didn't want expensive. I wanted simple.

Shame on me for not getting a price. Right before she handed me the bill she said "I remembered I hadn't given you a price yet," which told me she knew how I was going to feel.

I ordered a small bouquet for myself and two other strands of flowers I wanted just wrapped with a ribbon for my daughters. I had three tiny corsages for the males. (See pics) The vases were mine. The bill was $281. When I asked my friends, they nearly died. When I did it a year ago in Des Moines and asked for the same thing, but one less men's corsage, the bill was $72! And they were gorgeous. So I guess I assumed in rural South Dakota, they'd be the same or less, and maybe $100-$120 tops. Boy were we shocked. I did ask her afterwards if she was sure that was right. I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. I guess my fault, when I said "ten minute ceremony, not expensive" I wasn't thinking $281. I can't even imagine what a real full size...

Special ordered a dozen black roses for my wife. Without my permission, she hacked off all the stems and placed them in an ugly brown box instead of a vase. Because the ugly box was made of wood, and not water tight, it leaked every time we moved it. Charged me $90 and when the box got knocked over all the roses just fell out because all the stems had been cut off and nothing was holding them in. They ended up having to be tossed after 3 days because they were such a dysfunctional mess. What a...

My daughter was married in Spearfish in July. Cynthia is creative and easy to work with. She went above and beyond to help us achieve exactly what my daughter wanted for her wedding bouquet, table arrangements and the decoration of the gazebo.
