We were visiting the Black Hills on August 16th and decided to go out for a good Chinese buffet. The hotel recommended the Jade Palace which was opened until 9 p.m. We arrived about 7 p.m. to find that most of the food trays on the buffet were very low on contents. Thinking that the owner would refill the trays as there was still a couple of hours before closing we decided to stay. What a disaster!!!! The restaurant never did fill any of the food trays back up but would bring a few pieces of a particular chicken or pork dish, just enough for âslim pickingsâ. The food was always âluke warmâ and the choices diminished as the hour went on. We love Chinese food and have visited buffets and restaurants across North America for âmany yearsâ. This was, by far, the worst âChinese foodâ we have ever eaten and the presentation of the buffet was disgusting. And to top it all off, I experienced a variety of stomach ailments (use your imagination here) for three days following our visit. Do yourself a favour and avoid the Jade Palace at all costs.    Read moreI don't do a lot of reviews unless the food is exceptional or exceptionally terrible. Came there as they just opened and the food already tasted old. The sauces are watery, The egg rolls were greasy like the oil wasn't hot. The lo mein was basically spaghetti noodles with soy sauce and carrots. I tried a variety of things and it was all pretty much disgusting. felt nauseous within a half hour of eating there. Their ancestors would be rolling in their graves if they seen the slop they're serving. The bathroom was disgusting. The divider between the urinal and the sink was literally rusted from urine splashing on it. The only thing good about this place was the hostess who was very nice. 30 bucks for two people and it was very unappetizing. I would avoid this place. I would rather eat gas...
Read moreThis was the worst Chinese food I have ever had in a restaurant. I don't want to be mean but I do want to leave a warning. If you have previously had and enjoy Chinese food, I would avoid this place. Since it is Spearfish SD I had set my expectations accordingly, but it was way worse than I expected - worse than the Chinese in a hot deli case at the grocery store or mini mart. The sauce on our kung pao was a gelatinous corn starch mess and resembled jam with giant chunks of vegetables like green pepper and onion, with very little flavor. The dumplings did not look like any I have ever seen in any Chinese restaurant of any region, and resembled bready empanadas more than potstickers. Nor was there much flavor to discern in them other than salty and a little burnt. The staff...
