6 months ago I would have given Denver Mattress 5 stars. After my husband's triple bypass surgery, we went here to get a new mattress to ease his recovery. The salesperson we worked with was great. We got a really nice mattress. It was expensive. But, we were told about their 0% interest credit card - a great way to make a big expense affordable, if you keep up with your monthly payments to "Synchrony Bank". Which we did. Dutifully. BUT now, we have a letter in the mail from Synchrony Bank regarding "REVISED TERMS" and a "PROMOTIONAL FEE" - which is a 2% monthly fee that's suddenly getting slapped onto our balance. Thankfully, I read through the entire letter from Synchrony Bank and caught this. But now, we have to pay off this big expense in full, or get dinged a 2% charge we were never told about up front.
Of Note: I had set up automatic payments. If I hadn't caught this, then the automatic payments wouldn't have covered Both this new fee Plus the amount we owe every month. Which would have set us behind on payments, which would have then initiated an interest charge on the credit (29.99%). If you followed all of that, then you can see how this can completely blow up on you very very quickly.
And... they kind bumped all those details Down on their letter and did a Shell Game by first talking about an additional fee for Paper Statements. (I asked for paper statements cause my Spidey Sense said the 0% interest sounded too good to be true and I wanted to keep my eyes on this. Yup. It was too good to be true.) So, they first Nudge you into going online and switching to Electronic Statements - and then you're not paying attention 'cause this is all getting buried in your email Inbox - and maybe you don't catch the whole Promotional Fee Thing until things have gotten Seriously Out of Control.
Bottom Line: If you can afford to buy a mattress outright, then great. Go for it. It's a good mattress. We like it. But Buyer Beware if you're considering paying it off over time with their so-called 0% interest credit line. Just don't do it. Do not Tangle with Synchrony Bank. [I'd give the mattress and the shopping experience a full 5 stars. But, 0 Stars goes to the financing Bait and Switch game by Furniture Row's...
Read moreI hate shopping for anything but especially when it comes to dealing with sales people. I hate it so much I'll probably never buy another car again. Because of this we bought a "bed in a box" online about a month ago. After sleeping on it we decided that this mattress, like our old one, was garbage.
After waking up with both of our backs totally wrecked we decided to bite the bullet and go mattress shopping in person. We had shopped at furniture row in the past and we're pleased with our experience so we decided to start there.
We were immediately greeted by Don, who inquired about what we were looking for and if he could help at all. We let him know we were there to look at a mattress and gave him our price range. He started off with their in house brand "Denver Mattress" and that's all she wrote. Incredibly comfortable and extremely affordable. We did lay on a few others but the in house mattress beat out other, more expensive, name brands.
So, I mentioned I do not like sales people but I liked Don. He was friendly, knowledgeable, funny and, most importantly, not really a sales person. He was super low pressure, and really appeared to just be there to show us what they had in stock. In fact, when I asked about another set of mattresses he made it very clear they were well above our quoted price range (but not in a "you're poor" way but in a "I'm not trying to sell you a mattress you can't afford so my commission check is bigger" way).
After deciding on the in house brand mattress he handed us off to Ephraim to finalize. Again, no up selling attempts but he did mention that their mattress is taller than most (at 15") so regular sheets may not fit the best; he mentioned they did have sheets that would fit, but again - didn't push them on us.
While we won't have the mattress for a few weeks I'm giving 5 stars for the shopping...
Read moreVisited Furniture Row / Denver Mattress and was looking at my dream mattress. I had been waiting for a while to make the jump but couldn't make a decision. I tend to always go in and take a look to see if it's something I still want and of course I always do but can never pull the trigger. On this trip I was greeted by Brian who asked if I needed any help or had any questions. Of course having looked at this mattress only a billion times I had all the info I needed. Nevertheless, Brian gave me his card and let me know that he was available if we needed anything. I was shocked as I expected some pushing and nudging to make the sale however, that was far from what actually happened. I continued to look around and decided to take a step towards the mattress I've always wanted. Brian was ready and willing to help and even helped me out with financing and a great deal. This was hands down the best sales experience I had in a while. Even though the bank ran me through some extra verification steps Brian was there to help get me to the end. I ended up buying the mattress I had been waiting for and will definitely tell others to go and visit Brian. Also, being that this Denver is inside of a Furniture Row, Furniture Row also gained a new customer with their combined financing. Great...
