I was discriminated against by employee "Lilly" at this store. In case I was given a fake name, I'll provide her description: she's tall & thin with pink & dark blonde roots. I have chronic, well-documented health conditions that create a valid medical exemption as provided for in the Governor's mask mandate. Lilly told me I was required to wear a mask even after I explained to her & another employee that I had a medical exemption to the mask requirement. Lilly insisted I was prohibited from shopping inside the store without a mask despite the increased risk to my health. Because I have asthma, PTSD, and an autoimmune disease I am not allowed to shop inside this store. The Governor acknowledged in the mask requirement mandate that for some people wearing a mask is a greater threat to their health than necessary and they are exempt from the mask requirement. I even carry my inhaler & other emergency meds with me because strong smells and exposure to certain chemicals can trigger an allergy- or anaphylactic response, the likelihood of which is increased when my breathing is restricted as it would be if I were to wear a mask. I followed all other safety guidelines including not touching any surfaces or merchandise besides the merchandise I intended to purchase and I stayed 6+ feet away from other shoppers. I've avoided going out to any store I don't absolutely have to go to & limit my trips to as few as possible. In fact, this is the first time I've been out for any personal care products since the COVID shutdowns began in March. Regardless of any steps you're taking to prevent the spread of illness or reduce the threat to your own health, if you have any health conditions Lilly doesn't approve of she'll arbitrarily come up with her own mandates, even those that conflict with government orders so you can't shop...
Read moreToday was a learning lesson at Ulta that I didn't expect. My daughters birthday was today and I took her to Ulta cause she wanted some skin care and makeup and I agreed. She's 16 now too. we want in and were exploring products. We had some questions and were going to walk down one of the aisles to some ladies who were working but instead of walking into customer service, we experienced some sad drama. The ladies were obviously talking about another employee and were saying some unsavory things and cooking across the store towards the lady I imagine they were talking about. I was so sadden that not only we didn't find help but heard basically what I would call bullying instead. I was taken back as other customers were around. However my daughter said it was like what's she's experienced at school and he's heard this kind of talk before. I asked her what she wanted to do and she said to maybe tell the manager. We walked to the front and asked to talk to the manager, and when the manager approached we were a little taken back and ended up leaving instead of talking to her. the manager was shorter and had darker hair and was the main lady who we originally heard saying very rude and unprofessional things to begin with. I told my daughter that if she ever experienced this type of abuse at her work she should quit and that I would always support her. No one deserves to be treated that way and I hope that employee who was working around that stand that they wax and do stuff to...
Read moreSo the first time I went into Ulta I had a great experience and was helped greatly by one of the associates to find the foundation I wanted. I had just gotten off of work but i had full makeup on. She swatched them on me, showed me all different price points and explained them to me. She did the same with primers and with contour palettes. I thought I found a place with great customer service since Sephora was lacking in that area. HOWEVER, I went in there today with no makeup on, looking a little rough as I wanted to use the new products I was purchasing to get ready this morning. I was greeted by the woman running the register and constantly heard everyone else asking if they needed help. One lady was asked 3 separate times and I had yet to be asked if I needed help once and I had been there for 20 minutes. I eventually had to go and ask someone for help. When I asked her about getting a more ashy toned contour shade as I am very pale, she seemed annoyed that I asked her and showed me a yellow shade of contour. Then just put it up on there shelf said "there" and then walked back to the mac section. I felt very unwelcomed and like I was a pest to ask for help finding something even though everyone else was being helped and given great customer service. I dont know if I will be revisiting...
