When it involves my HP Desktop Envy, or even the old HP Pavilion that needed replacing because it could not support Windows 11, for technical support to transfer the data from the old to the new, my only thought was Staples. And here's why!
17 years ago, I went to Best Buys because I thought they had computer techs that knew what they were doing. I had questions about a Dell laptop (never buy a Dell) and I went there seeking answers and left the laptop for servicing. When I got it back, the laptop was a complete mess; the manager was initially unwilling to refund the upfront money, until mentioning BBB, breach of service contract requiring an attorney, and contacting a local newspaper. He refunded my money and I took that Dell home to my garage and gave it decent burial with a 25 pound sledge hammer! I will not ever step inside a Best Buy store to purchase or service anything for the rest of my lifetime. They don't call it the Geek Squad for nothing, because they know absolutely ZERO!
My home office is exactly that, a home OFFICE, which requires office products and office technical support, hence Staples! For the very moment I went in for the first time in Connecticut for help and answers, I have not been disappointed to this day. From computers to printers, technical support and advice, Anti-virus software, office chairs, office supplies and products, whatever the need, I have always been greeted kindly and found whatever I was looking for at a fair price.
I am not going to trust my computer to a bunch of unprofessional people who know very little at best, and have peace of mind and assurance that what was done is going to work.
Trust, peace of mind, professional support, good product selection and online service, and a reputation of many years of great service is what I want to follow me home when I turn on my PC for the first time, every time.
I am not a gamer (which is a waste of time and expensive), but a down to earth retired professional man who knows the value of having a safe and secure PC to bring me what is important to my life style, hassle free, worry free! Read moreI bought my entire work station from Staples in Aug 2024: laptop, monitors, keyboard, mouse, etc. I bought the 1-yr insurance, which incidentally lapsed just a few weeks before I started experiencing system issues. I went back and asked for a repair. They told me they had a sale for a diagnostic repair that comes with a 1-yr warranty. I told them that sounded great and asked if it would cover me if a similar issue happened again. I was told yes, so I purchased it.
A few weeks later I start experiencing similar issues. I bring it in and I’m told what I had purchased only covers hardware, and my issue is not covered. They tell me I “declined” their comprehensive coverage. I had accepted the service product I was presented as the solution to my problem. Had it been explained to me that the what i had purchased was not comprehensive and would not cover the issue I was having if it recurs in the future, I would not have accepted it.
At the end of the day, this is not about money. This is a work expense. I do not wish to do business with a private company that gives me DMV attitude. They offered no solution or apology, just offered to double charge me with another repair and the comprehensive insurance I needed a few weeks ago. We are about to hire a new employee. He has always been helpful and gotten my projects done in a timely matter which is very important for my art practice. The entire Staples team every time I have gone in have been very friendly and welcoming and literally welcome me to the store every time I set foot in it. I no longer live in the valley but I drive to that one instead of go to the places in Spokane because I know how well I will be treated.
