I recently had the pleasure of re-meeting an absolute gem of an employee at Sephora, and his name is Omar. I actually met Omar about 5 years ago while he was working at another makeup store in the area. I will go where he goes! Walking into the store, I was immediately greeted by his warm smile and friendly demeanor, setting the tone for what turned out to be an exceptional shopping experience.
What truly impresses me about Omar is his extensive knowledge of beauty products and his genuine passion for helping customers. Despite being a male employee in a predominantly female-oriented industry, he exuded confidence and expertise that surpassed any preconceived notions I may have had. His dedication to his craft and commitment to providing top-notch service were truly remarkable.
My most recent trip was to look for makeup products for my momâI am extremely picky when it comes to her. She appeared visibly irritated and unapproachable when asked simple questions â not just by me, but by other customers as well. Her demeanor suggested that assisting customers was a burden, which is concerning given her role in a busy mall storefront like Sephora.
Customer service is a cornerstone of the Sephora brand, and interactions like this fall well below expectations. Associates are not only expected to be knowledgeable, but also to be approachable, helpful, and professional. If someone doesnât wish to engage positively with customers, perhaps a customer-facing role isnât the right fit. As a paying customer, I expect a welcoming and supportive environment â especially in a store centered around personal care and consultation.

He spent all the time we needed to find all the right skin prep, makeup. But it was more than that .His whole concern was just to make us happy. And teach us how to apply the makeup on our forever changing skin. Because at every age you still want to look good. He gets that. I wish I knew who to contact in corporate to let them know this was the best experience my sister and I have ever had in a Sephora. Maybe someone will read this and give him his accolades .
