There is a reason (are reasons) that Macy's is failing and my recent experience highlights several of them.
First their store hours are terrible, the furniture store not opening until 11:00AM and then closing by 7:00PM is ridiculous, but top that with their "dock" workers getting off at 4:00PM.
Finding an associate to assist, or a cashier to ring up has been a major challenge and a reason why I personally avoid Macy's like the plague, but finding an associate that is competent and or friendly, let alone competent and friendly is nearly impossible.
I bought a couch and needed to pick it up at a later date. I called the telephone number given to me on the receipt to schedule the pickup and after being transferred three times, I was placed on hold for roughly 15 minutes, where the call then proceeded to be dropped.
While annoying, I can understand the call accidentally dropping as in-store multi line phones can be difficult. It's understandable, so I rushed to my local truck rental, rent a truck, hire a buddy of mine to help and head to the store.
Of course the sales associate who had assisted me was off, and finding another associate was a chore, but the real issue came as once I finally found an associate to assist, she immediately had an attitude (my opinion) and asked if I made an appointment to pickup my item.
She then proceeded to lecture me that I needed to call to schedule the pickup as their dock workers are extremely busy and they need to be given notice ahead of time.
She then told me the dock workers leave at 4:00PM (it was now 5:30PM) but she said she'd humour me and call back to the dock to see if anyone could assist.
To her surprise, the dock manager actually picked up, but then proceeded to say that all of the employees had left for the day and that they had been walking out the door when the phone rang.
When the store associate told the dock manager that I was willing to load the items myself, the dock worker (who could be heard through the receiver), said nah, tell them to come back tomorrow, I'm headed out the door.
The associate even told the dock worker that I rented a truck and hired a helper but the dock person would not budge.
The store employee then told me that I needed to return the truck that I rented and needed to call ahead of time at a later date (to be able to get the item which I had already paid for).
The associate then said it's safe to call between 11:00AM and Noon, or between 1:00PM and 3:00PM but during lunch or after 3:00PM and I probably won't get through.
So I have a total of three hours in which I must call to schedule my pickup (very customer service oriented).
Needless to say, I will be sticking to Arhaus, Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrell, West-Elm, Downeast, etc. and will even turn to Wayfair before ever thinking of trying Macy's Furniture...
Read moreWhen you think of Macy’s... you think of great things. But it is unfortunate that was the Macy’s of long ago. Now Macy’s is a store chain that is ready to implode... they are failing themselves in the standards that once made them a great store to go to... whether it was for clothing, household items and even furniture. Their furniture prices are a bit higher then most other established furniture chains... but with their name Macy’s it may draw you to their store. The main reason I am writing this review is to say how disappointed I am with the customer service after the fact of purchasing a $1,400 sofa from them. I fully understand that some items may be delayed in delivery due to the pandemic... but what I don’t understand why no one from the store can give me an accurate update on where my order is. I purchased the sofa in late December after just moving here... I was informed that there might be a slight delay, but I chose to order anyway. As of this review I have yet to be given any current update on where my sofa is now. During the beginning of January... I received an email stating that my delivery would be delayed until 2/8/22... which has come and gone. After I had to call the store several times to question the status of my order... I was told it was in Los Angeles ready for shipping... then I was told it was here in Las Vegas ready for shipping to the store... then I was told they don’t know anything about it. Really... why was the employee who assisted me in my purchase so knowledgeable about the process of shipping and delivery... especially to tack on delivery and setup fees to my order at the time of my purchase... but now only to disappear in the woodwork with no specific answer on the status of my order. Since I just moved here into a new home... I needed furniture to fill my home. I looked at the option of ordering from an established online furniture store... and to my surprise... they were great! Not only was their prices great... the quality was great... the speed of delivery was astonishing! I received my items within days from the date that I ordered them. My home is now 99% furnished... the only thing not making it 100% is the sofa that I ordered from Macy’s. If I could do it all over again... Macy’s would not be in the picture at all. Like I stated... Macy’s was a name that use to mean something... sadly...
Read moreSales staff?!? Is that who those people wearing name tags were, employee's...? Well, somehow, my girlfriend and I, managed to walk that entire store (including the, "Backstage" area), without being greeted, offered assistance, or even acknowledged by a single one of these alleged, "employees". That is, until we approached the customer service desk, to purchase a few items. This is where we only had to stand idly, for a few moments, before the associate, politely, without speaking, gestured for us to approach her empty register (which was empty long before we started our approach to the register) , and then held her hand up, signaling us to hold on, while she continued to use the telephone, to check the balance(s) of her credit cards.
When the items we had to purchase, rang up at full price, we told her that they were supposed to be on sale, as the sign they were sitting next to, dictated. First, she argued the point, then had us walk her back to where we obtained the items, to show her the signage. Only to say, "Well they shouldn't be sitting there, because they aren't on sale."
This is when we left everything at the register, walked out, empty handed, and drove down the road to a different home furnishings store, and purchased nearly identical items for nearly identical regularly marked prices.
To say this store and our experience was a joke, is a bold faced lie. This store is an embarrasment, and our experience was unacceptable. Macy's lost two, long time customers, as a result of their egregious and seemingly intentional, lack of...
