Terrible Experience with Value City Furniture â Avoid at All Costs
I ordered a kitchen table and chair set from Value City Furniture in November 2024, with delivery scheduled for early February 2025. What followed was a months-long ordeal of damaged goods, failed deliveries, and abysmal customer service.
The initial delivery arrived with a damaged table and two of the eight chairs. After reporting the issue, a technician confirmed the items needed replacement, but I was told one chair was out of stock until mid-July 2025. I reluctantly agreed to receive a replacement table and one chair the next week. However, the problems escalated:
Delivery Attempt 2: No delivery window confirmation was provided. At 5:00 PM, I called and learned a "computer system error" canceled the delivery, forcing a reschedule. Delivery Attempt 3: The day before delivery, I was informed the items werenât loaded onto the truck, requiring another reschedule. Delivery Attempt 4: After speaking with a manager (whose name I didnât note), I was assured the items were in stock for delivery the following Tuesday. I warned that failure would lead to a refund request. Delivery Attempt 5: Again, no confirmation call. I was told the items didnât make the truck. I spoke with a manager named Karen, who promised to resolve the issue and call me back after a meeting the next day. Weeks later, Iâm still waiting for that call.
Frustrated, we visited the store and spoke with Kirby, who promised the chairs would be sourced from another location for delivery on April 3, 2025. Yet, on April 2, another "system error" canceled the delivery. This pattern of incompetence is unacceptable.
I purchased this set for my new townhouse, while all other furniture (couches, chair, bar stools, desk) came from Ashley Furniture nearby. Ashleyâs items arrived ahead of schedule and in perfect conditionâa stark contrast to VCFâs service.
After months of disputes, I finally received replacements, but the ordeal was inexcusable. No compensation was offered despite the inconvenience, and communication was consistently poor. I strongly recommend shopping elsewhereâAshley Furniture or any other retailer will likely provide a better experience. Save your time, money, and sanity, and avoid Value...
Read moreI am a 100% disabled Veteran with physical limitations and chronic pain. I thought purchasing their advertised massage chair would be a helpful therapeutic approach for my aches and pains suffered from military trauma. I called the Cincinnati Ohio VCF store to express my limitations and find out if this might be a good purchase for me. I was told by the saleswoman (Robyn), along with the store manager that the advertisement was true, as it read that customers would receive the "white glove" treatment. They assured me that the delivery person would set up the massage chair as well as demonstrate how to use it. This treatment is what prompted me to purchase from VCF rather than from a vendor that specialized in massage chairs. Because of what I was promised, I was sold. I placed my order over the phone and excitedly anticipated its arrival. I quickly realized that it was all about making the sale and that I was given 'empty promises' . The chair was delivered by a third-party driver whose only job was to drop the chair off. He had no help, so I actually had to help him get it up the stairs. He had no tools, and asked to borrow a screwdriver so that he could attempt to help and put the foot portion of the chair on (he actually YouTubed and watched an instruction video right there on the spot to find out how to do it). It's still not put together properly. I do not fault him, as he explained that his only job was to deliver the chair - not to set it up or demonstrate how to use it. When I called the store, I got passed around. Not even the Corporate office cared to help. I spoke to a gal named Lisa in Cust Svs. who told me that the advertised "white glove" treatment was a Corporate error. VCF did not hold up to their end of the agreement. They were dishonest in their sales pitch and allowed false advertising to be disseminated. Never will I ever purchase another item from them that needs assembly or maintenance. Their words mean nothing. It's all...
Read moreTerrible company, ordered a couch (sectional) about 3 years ago. It broke within the first 6 months of having it. Called you guys, you sent one incompetent guy out who only put a bandaid over the issue. I had to myself get under the couch and figure out how to fix it. Iâm not a mechanic. I know nothing about how to fix this couch. Turned out a cord kept coming unplugged when reclined. Finally I gave up with it and it sat in the reclined position. Do you guys actually care? Due to incompetence all around from this company my couch is ruined. Metal bent, pieces coming off. We had to get rid of a completely broken chair, and this chair reclined, so better believe it was a bit more expensive then the ones that donât recline. We bought THREE reclining chairs for our Seconal. The two recliners we mainly used are the broken ones. The recliner that barely got used was not broken. However hold on, Iâll be back in a few months with an update of another broken recliner. Let me remind you, we have only had it for three years at this point. You guys will not honor your warranty, clearly mechanics arenât paid enough to care here. Customer service is a joke. I recommend you not buy furniture here. They want to squeeze as much money as possible out, charge you extra for a warranty that they donât honor, and hope you forget and move on. These couches arenât cheap, the warranty isnât cheap. Yet, feels like the couch itself was made shotty, and out of cheap...
