Springfield Plaza — Local services in Springfield

Very disappointed in specifically the Discount Liquor Store behind Stop n Shop! I used to favor this place when it came to bottle redemption for the longest time! I haven't really bothered lately since covid and how risky I heard that could be.. I ended up having a bunch of various returnable's recently and it seemed like a GREAT timing, as I was pretty low on grocery $, so I headed over to my trusted store with the spacious and pretty clean redemption area that makes these things much EASIER to do. I was SHOCKED and appalled to learn that the newest owners decided to change the rules to NO CASH for turning in your returnable's! Instead they only offer STORE CREDIT! I wouldn't find it so repulsive if it were a grocery store or perhaps a Wal-Mart.. That sort of place.. But I was always under the impression that the whole target for bottle and can redemption centers, were to give people the incentive to recycle ♻ MORE while avoiding more pollution to our planet! I could be wrong about THAT part but it's definitely a great side to the whole process.. Since this particular place only offers u store credit, I feel like they're pushing, people into either NOT BOTHER with the system anymore, or instead of having the choice to spend your few extra bucks on food or whatever u please, NOPE! Get drunk or get LOST! I was able to bring them to other places that day, but if THIS place started such a thing who knows how many other people will allow greed to win over doing your part to allow others to put in their efforts to help the massive pollution problems we've got threatening the 🌎! If I hadn't gotten the idea of extra grocery $ when I noticed all the empties in the bins for both apartments at my house ( including the regular trash bin) I may not have had the impulse to start pulling them out of the WRONG bins!! Especially if I had already KNOWN I could ONLY turn them in...

If you're not looking to go grocery shopping you really have to use your own opinion on The Springfield Plaza.Two of the big anchoring stores are gone now.(Kmart being one). They have a good sized "Dollar Tree" that is very busy! There are other stores and restaurants along the plaza and in the parking lot areas...But my favorite place I try to get to when I can is the "Coffee Cup Bakery"! Sometimes I just run in to buy a couple of the pineapple squares they make...they to me are wonderful!! Our family loves to buy a few bags of the mixed dinner rolls for the holidays.They have so many fresh breads, cookies,cakes, doughnuts and so much more to choose from at such unbelievable prices.. I have seen also that the Springfield Plaza is on the direct PVTA bus routes,Wich is so convenient for so many people.The one and only downfall I have found year after year from going there was that in the cold wind it is always worse for some reason in the plaza?? I am sure others have noticed? Some days when the wind is blowing strong you will see little tornado like areas forming in places in corner areas of the plaza.The gusts get so cold and strong it takes your breath away.....So just dress warm on cold...

I miss having kmart or a larger dept store @ plaza. I do on occasion go into Savers or one of the other places while up there but dont always have what I'm looking for. & I dont care to go to walmart/only when absolutely necessary!the stop & shop is my go to grocery store. What I have noticed is pking lots r dirty! What the heck is wrong w people that they cant throw their trash in a barrel!! You'll see they dump out their fast food bags, cups, papers! To b what looks like they cleaned their car out, threw all over! It's disgusting!! What kind of a dirty nasty person would do!! Clean your own mess up, throw in barrels, lazy inconsiderate human beings! I can only guess @ who would b doing! Should have cameras out in pking lots to get license plate # & they should b given a hefty fine! I teach my gchildren u do not throw your trash on the ground! Find a barrel or hold onto until u do. Do not throw on ground! Being disrespectful & its loitering! Bad for the earth! Great role models their being for the children..unfortunately...
