Another visit from my daughter, another trip to Jewels on Hampton.
This time around, she was engaged and interested in engagement rings. She had a very specific design in mind: a 'tension set' diamond that she had seen. Since Jewels on Hampton offers custom design jewelry, Al quickly drew a ring that matched her description. She loved it, we ordered it, and when it was ready she was completely satisfied.
This store is highly recommended by us!
UPDATE AUGUST 21, 2017
My daughter came to town to visit, and I took her to Jewels on Hampton. She loves jewelry and I knew she would have a great time shopping there.
As always, we were greeted by friendly staff who gave her 'the royal treatment' (they remembered me from prior visits). They showed her many selections from their silver collection, including some turquoise pieces, since she mentioned recently visiting the southwest. She was thrilled and selected 2 bracelets, a ring, a charm and a chain.
Venturing into the second section of the store, we looked at men's watches (her boyfriend collects them). After checking the showcases, she found an Invicta watch she knew he would like).
Then we went into the collectables section of the store, and she was overwhelmed by the amount and variety of items on display. She found a painting that she said would be great for her living room, but figured it would be too much for her budget. I told her no worries, I owed her a nice birthday present, and said I would buy that for her.
When it was time to settle up, we were very pleased with the great prices we paid for everything.
Once again, I left Jewels on Hampton very satisfied. It is a great place to find unusual gifts.
UPDATE MAY 8, 2917
I was in their store over the weekend with my family to pick up some repairs and do some shopping. The experience was just like my previous visits - the staff was very friendly and helpful, and didn't rush us at all. We were made to feel welcome and appreciated.
This is why I find it VERY HARD to believe the recent posts blasting Jewels on Hampton. These non-specific attacks absolutely do not ring true to what I have personally witnessed. I have seen other customers leaving the store very satisfied and saying they will definitely be returning.
The attack reviews seem like thinly-disguised attempts by competitors to discredit the store's good name, which is well-documented in these reviews. Do not let these false accounts keep you from visiting the store. Judge for yourself; I know you'll be glad you did.

RESPONSE TO alchemimb1 and a few others...
I've been seeing a few negative reviews about this store and I have to say, I don't know what you're talking about! My experiences here have been nothing like you describe.
The staff has always been courteous and helpful to me and others I have seen. In fact, they go out of their way to provide whatever the customers are looking for, whether buying or selling merchandise. And if they don't have a certain item, I've even heard the owner send people to competitors to find what they want!
My best advice is to go to Jewels on Hampton snd see for yourself. I'm sure you will be glad you did.
I want to echo the excellent reviews on this site for Jewels on Hampton. The owner (Al) has been in the business his entire life, and has an encyclopedic knowledge of gems, jewelry and any collectable you might bring in. Gold, Silver, coins, antique toys, fine Hummel , Lladro, Swarovski, and Lalique figurines, watches and pocket watches are all bought and sold.
Al will sit and talk with a customer in an unrushed way, sharing his knowledge in a friendly, congenial manner. He goes to great lengths to ensure that every customer is treated fairly, has a positive experience, and leaves happy.
All in all a fine store, highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst, I usually take Google reviews with a grain of salt and I typically donāt write reviews on Google for that reason. However, I just have to publicly share the experience my family and I had today at Jewels on Hampton. We are not native to the St. Louis area, and weāve become accustomed to poor customer service based on the experiences we have had at the stores weāve patronized. Today, we were truly taken aback by the exceptional, and unexpected kindness to a level that we have never experienced anywhere, let alone in St. Louis. Weāre having a financially tight month so we went to Jewels on Hampton to try and sell some gold chains and a truly gaudy pair of earrings that had a retail value of $130. I received the earrings as a gift, Iāve tried returning them to the store they originally came from, but since I donāt have a receipt nor the original jewel box I couldnāt get the retail store to even give me store credit. Weāve previously taken the earrings to a pawn shop and we were offered $15 for them. In hind sight we probably should have accepted the offer, but we thought weād try our luck for more with a store that specializes in jewelry. Weāre not very familiar with the value of jewelry, but I wasnāt expecting much, if any, money from the other items we brought in to sell. Pretty much to our expectations our jewelry wasnāt of any resale value. We went in thinking if we could just get $20 weād be doing good, but we also understand that the jewelry buyer will only purchase what he can resell for a profit regardless of itās āactualā value. Thatās just the nature of any resale store. So, our jewelry wasnāt worth anything, but we did receive a profound ask of kindness. Itās not necessary to go into the details, but I believe that we were recipients of Godās work. Our move to St. Louis hasnāt gone as planned, we recently and unexpectedly lost my mom to heart failure, our financial situation has abruptly been significantly altered, and Iāve just recently started to recover from a prolonged illness. So, lately Iāve personally been struggling with my faith in God, but today I believe we were touched by Godās grace though the actions and kindness offered to us by the owner of Jewels on Hampton. The experience we had at this establishment was beyond good customer service. It was an experience that demonstrated integrity, compassion, and humanity at a level we have never experienced before. Weāre going to keep those gaudy earrings and if we feel like weāre losing our faith in humanity weāre going to look at those earrings and remember our experience at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSuper shady business looking to rip you off. I own a small fine jewelry business, so the purpose of my visit was to check their inventory, get some ideas, check out their prices, and maybe get a couple of pieces if it felt right. IThe first piece I looked at outside of the case was a very small diamond pendant that was honestly extremely basic, nothing special. I just wanted to see their price. The lady brings it to a man in the corner who pulls an outrageous number out of his headā$500!! For a 0.27ct ādiamondā on a very thin maybe 14k gold prong setting, like 0.01g of gold!! Iām used to negotiating prices for everything in jewelry, I buy real gemstones all the time to make pieces, I asked him if that was the lowest he would go because $500 is outrageous. He flipped out on me telling me āthis is Americaā and the diamond is āprimo.ā He told me I could go to Kay jewelers and spend $1000 for that pendant (wow!) I knew right then what kind of business they are running. Save your time and money and go somewhere respectable, especially if youāre not familiar with the cost of jewelry.
EDIT in response to their reply on my review. I was in no way disrespectful. The two other representatives who were helping me would tell you that it was a very normal and respectful interaction up until I was presumed to be a fool by the man who I assume is the one who responded to my review. The price is up to him, however, jewelry sellers like him are the reason that people have such high distrust in our industry. He didnāt open the conversation to negotiation at all, he told me to leave and buy it from Kay Jewelers for double the price and told me I didnāt know what I was looking at because this diamond was āprimoā. He couldnāt tell me any other factual details about the diamond to prove it was āprimoā (whatever that means). I told him thereās no report for the diamond or anything and he told me to pay over $200 to get the report from GIA myself to prove it. It could have even been a lab grown diamond for all I know, I didnāt have my loupe on me to see. So it means to me that heās making up numbers off the top of his head with no information to back his price points. After I wrote this review, I told my dad about the experience I had and he told me that some years ago and he went to look at some stuff for my mom and he had to leave because of the poor treatment he also received from the owner. Again, save your time and money and shop...
