I just recently moved to St. Louis and was thrilled to find the Pilates Lab. I am very new to pilates, but I have quickly fallen in love thanks to this spot. The studio is energetic, gorgeous and comfortable - it seriously feels like you're walking into a museum! Beyond the wonderful setting, the instructors are top notch. Classes with upbeat, fun, and always KICK MY BUTT!! Once starting class, I truly want to stay all day. It's THAT good! But when I do leave, I do so feeling like a whole new person - standing taller and feeling stronger and more connected to my body. And since starting, I've noticed a shift in my body's strength and mindset. I've progressed through exercises much quicker than I ever imagined I could and honestly I think it's because everyone here makes the space feel safe and accepting of people at all experience levels. It can be intimidating to try a new style of workout and join a new studio but if you're going to, THIS is the place to do it. And even if you're a pilates pro, I'm not not sure you could find a better spot to continue your practice. I am so grateful for the...
Read moreThe Pilates Lab: a beautiful studio with exceptional instructors. Kristen Davis, one of the co-owners, has been my Pilates guide, teacher and friend for 10 years. I met her when I was at an emotional and physical low after cancer surgery. I signed up for some individual sessions with Kristen to learn about Pilates, and she's been stuck with me ever since. Pilates has done wonders for my body and my self esteem, but it's the quality of Kristen's instruction -- quality and expertise shared by everyone on staff at the Pilates Lab -- that makes me confidently recommend Pilates for people of all ages, physical conditions and goals. Men and women, golfers, runners, skiers, tennis players, not to mention folks like me who stroll more than they power walk, can benefit. I am pushing 70 (and I'm not the Lab's oldest client at all), and I don't think there are any Pilates movements that can't be modified to suit how my joints are feeling. The Pilates Lab staff know what they are doing and delight in helping clients get the most out of a tailored workout in a safe and sane way....
Read moreI’ve experienced the joy and benefit of practicing Pilates at The Pilates Lab since its opening. I started practicing Pilates as a total beginner several years ago. At that point, I had been seeking better fitness through both structured and unstructured training at a traditional gym. Despite my efforts, I never got consistent results.
The Pilates Lab has helped me to learn the importance of balance in strength and control. I have learned to care for my body even when I am increasingly hard on it in my athletic pursuits. Pilates has helped me maintain and even build my fitness when injured from my sport of choice. Through my Pilates practice, I have become better in tune with the signals my body is sending me while training. You won’t meet a better or more qualified group of teachers who understand the intricacies of the body and how it moves, as well as how to correct bad, stiff, or just plain painful movement— all while helping you get more...
