I don't want to give a bad review by any means. I don't drink alcohol much but I tried a mojito fresh mint and lime etc. For my birthday june my husband bought me pretty big bottle of Lyons White rum. I was so excited to make it, but the taste was so different and I didn't understand why. I researched finally tonight. My husband asked the liquor store where he purchased Lyons in frederick and they suggested this one. The problem is that I'm seeing after researching. Is for a drink like mojito you want a cane juice or Agricole (if I'm spelling correctly) white win that is crisp and light and compliments lime and mint. I'm not saying Lyons is not good. I just am sad that the person who suggested Lyons for the only drink I wanted to make and I grew the mint for it, well it has been produced with more of an intense molasses flavor and that is the exact flavor I get and it does not pair well with flavors of the mojito. I have such a big bottle and I wish I could gift this and you possibly could tell me if you make a white rum with cane juice instead of molasses? I would love to finally sit and enjoy a good mojito maybe for labor day instead. Thank you. To bad the people who own or work at the spirits or liquor stores didn't know more about their liquor to be able to recommend better. Now that I am aware I know what to ask for for sure. Thank you Not sure how far away from frederick your distillery is but I work with adults with disabilities and we all enjoy tours of our locally owned businesses. We recently toured peurto Rico distillery here in Frederick and women owned as well. If your under 50 min away we would love to make a tour with your distillery...
Read moreIf you want to experience authentic, hand crafted spirits, look no further!! From the moment you walk up to the old factory where Windon Distilling is located you see the love and care that goes into everything about their spirits. The attention to detail in their bottling shows through into the distillery. I personally wear Windon Distilling apparel everyday, just because it's a great logo and such comfortable, cute clothing. I always buy a bottle of one of their many spirits for holiday or birthday gifts, always a great hit and a conversational piece for any occasion. I can not tell you how over the moon I was to find out they are now distributing in CT,NY,NJ and PA. Especially in the crazy world we live in today, I was sad to think I couldn't make my occasional drive to Maryland to stock up on my favorite booze!
You will always be greeted with a smile from the owner, Jaime and her staff who has been with her since day one. That in itself shows how much they care for the product they are putting out.
I shouldn't be saying this because it is always rare to find and only sold in Maryland but their Coconut rum is outstanding! Candy is a glass, gorgeous. But also to name some other favorites, Rock and Rum is a fun twist to a cocktail all in one bottle. And never to be out shown their Coffee Rum is always a staple...
Read moreMy first time visiting St. Michael's and of course Wyndon distillery. We were greeted by Sara. Funny, energetic, our own personal Rum expert and bartender. Not only did she introduce us to all the Amazing rum flavors, but gave us an introduction to Wyndon's history, a verbal tour of the town with her own favorite spots. The highlights of St. Michael's. An expert bartender, as was I a long time ago. We had a blast talking about our favorite drinks. She was an absolute treasure for this distillery. Then on to the bar at the distillery. Brand New Bar, just opened and you need a Golden ticket to enter.Right away you got a shore town mixed with a bohemian vibe. Beautiful bar with a comfy bench full of pillows. High top tables, unique decor. Jamie the owner and top notch bartender in her own right entertained us on her adventures around the world, her love of St. MICHAEL'S, her love of rum and her passion of the business and all the people. This is the must see and experience place in...
