This Chef’s Favorite Restaurant in St.Michael’s Take My Advice, as a Well Known Chef / Food Blogger, You’ve got to give this a Try, The Chef is a Small town Food celebrity, We tried everything tonight and each bite build on the one before in terms of flavor, texture, color, and execution, this Chef tells a story of excellence and consistency, The twin knows his name, and those of us who travel in from places like My Hometown of Lancaster Are so lucky to Hear the word of this must try establishment and now I have to share that same endorsement From entry, the super Fabulous Jennifer greeted Me with a smile and Since I was early, welcomed me to a seat by their “Bar” which is really much more like Kitchen Theatre, the Chef runs a tight line, Everything is perfect, the cold prep station, the Proteins, the Expediter, everything, it’s perfection and this town is so lucky to have him, Much less the star studded cast of friendly faces who’ll make you run to the phones like me afterwards and let everyone know why their reservation book is full, I can’t wait to come back and tell everyone in the meantime that this Chef knows the best places to go, this was the best Gumbo I ever had, the chicken roulade was dynamite, the salads were perfect and so filling, the Lamb chop was the best ever, and back to brag on the gumbo for a second, Make sure someone at your table tries this, Come hungry, Like starve yourselves for days and then go, because there is so much food that comes to your table it’s an embarrassment of riches! Enjoy looking at these photos, and run to make your reservation, Though we were too full for dessert so many people gave it a try and it looked so picture perfect like no bake shop has anything on this place, they Friend out so much of it it felt like a secret everyone knew about but us because I’ve never seen so many dessert plates go out in a restaurant, the secret is out and this is THE Cant Miss Destination of St.Michael’s! The staff from Jennifer, to Kaylee (ask to sit in Her section when you book and tip Her well because you couldn’t ask for a Better server, she was spectacular and knows more about the food than anyone could ever hope, she explains the food like a Chef could be proud of to have imparted such knowledge and translations of his mastery! And the guest won’t be let down because everything she told us to order were the best versions of each we’ve ever had! -The Happy Chef from Pennsylvania!

The photos are a mix of Nov 24 and original visit of Aug 22. I think they show up starting with the 2022 pictures. New visit early November 2024. Sat at the chef’s counter bar. Martinis excellently prepared I’m glad I got the Mussels Sofrito again. This time was just like the first time. Such a delicious interesting perfectly seasoned sauce and the mussels perfectly cooked. Tender green beans. Apple Crumble had nice texture and flavor. Service was friendly but a little off and on slow. Staffing may have been low on a Tuesday eve in November Finally though, the bone-in veal this time was a bit tough rubbery on the outside parts yet much more tender in the middle of the cut. The Mussels Sofrito makes me hit the 5 stars here. ——— So i went back here this past week at end of May 2023. Unfortunately the Mussels Sofrito sauce this time was really bland. I think it was really unseasoned. Lamb loin was fine, but not overwhelming and one of the bread baskets had rock hard rolls. Oh well. B-- this time for overall grade. Original post - from August 2022 -- A+ all around. Hosts so friendly and attentive. Peter my server made perfect recommendations. Mussels Sofrito sauce should be bottled up and sold it’s just that flavorful and delicious. Bone-in veal loin so mouthwateringly tender and delectable. Expertly made drinks. Chef’s counter seating gave me closeup view of the talented chefs and crew. Superb -

We had the pleasure of dining at Bistro St. Michaels during our stay at The Oaks, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we were charmed by the restaurant's inviting atmosphere. Every dish was delicious and the service was fantastic. The shrimp and grits were perfectly executed - rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor. The fried green tomatoes topped with fresh crab were beautifully crisp with a delicate sweetness that complemented the crab beautifully. For our mains, their famous braised beef short rib was absolutely sublime - fork-tender with deep, complex flavors and gorgeous presentation. The pan-seared tilefish with red quinoa and broccolini highlighted how fresh and simple ingredients can really shine. We couldn't resist ending with the bread pudding à la mode, and we're so glad we did. Warm, indulgent, and drizzled with butterscotch sauce, it was the perfect finale to an outstanding meal. Bistro St. Michaels truly captures the essence of exceptional Eastern Shore dining with fresh ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and warm hospitality. We can't wait to return on our next visit to the area. Highly recommended!

Having been a regular patron of Bistro St. Michaels for years, I hold dear memories of the impeccable service and delightful experiences my family and I have cherished over the years.

The highlight being our wedding rehearsal dinner hosted five years ago, which was nothing short of perfection. Doug was absolutely wonderful planning every detail - something that we will never, ever forget.

However, during our brief visit yesterday evening, the warmth and hospitality we've come to associate with Bistro seemed amiss.

Upon entering the restaurant, the initial interaction with the young hostess and another employee left us feeling slightly unwelcomed. Instead of the familiar gracious greeting, we were met with a curt inquiry about reservations and an implication that we might as well leave our names if we so desired.

It's crucial for establishments, especially ones as esteemed as Bistro St. Michaels, to consistently uphold the same level of hospitality to both regulars and newcomers alike.

Every interaction counts, and even a single off-day can affect a customer's perspective.

That said, memories of countless delightful evenings spent here make me willing to consider this an isolated incident.

I genuinely hope the management can take note of such experiences and maybe invest in a little refresher course on hospitality for the staff.

In the spirit of understanding and growth, I'd be more than willing to give Bistro another shot in the future.

The magic of the place remains intact in our hearts; I just hope it resonates in every interaction henceforth.

Google removed Lupe's previous Review. As they did with another of Lupe's previous reviews. ok. Lupe will cut to the chase and give her devoted followers her bottom line Review... "Wonderful food, service, ambiance, decor. Just BEWARE of their undisclosed SOMETIMES disquised outrageously overpriced Dining options. oh! you didn't ask...they didn't tell you when you ordered. Lupe can afford it all...some diners cannot! but warn me and them when we order. some diners CAN'T afford some of their prices. so? ASK! Lupe says ENJOY! it's wonderful. but? ASK! that's all. 10/12/23. UPDATE. Dearest Owner thanks for your reply to my update on Bistro. Lupe and the rest of the world are very aware of the crazy costs and expenses of food today! Lupe does grocery shop and is herself a divine Chef. Fine Dining is expensive specially in the epicurean world that exists today in upscale St. Michaels. You say you do not announce pricing because it is "tacky". So IF it is TACKY, why do you put prices on your Menu at all???!!! It is the exact same tackiness for nor revealing your Price on the veal chop. Why put any prices? Lupe can walk a block up Talbot St. to the wonderful VILLAGE SHOPPE and purchase the finest magnificent butchered to order veal chop and not pay near the price of the Bistro. To say your cost is "high" is amusing. and let's be real you pay wholesale for your foods. You call it tacky to divulge to any customer your price. Lupe calls it a COURTESY to those customers who can't afford your price. But? It is your baby. Rock it, Lupe still...
