I am now an ex-customer of Spot On as of today! On July 8th, I contacted Spot On Veterinary Hospital & Hotel to request the current certificates for all vaccinations and rabies shots my dog received on June 26, along with a copy of the spaying certificate. Despite my simple request, the office failed to provide the records promptly. They did not address why the vaccinations were administered in the back room instead of in the exam room where I could see my dog.
When they finally sent a copy, it lacked the veterinarian's signature, and the spaying certificate was still missing. After a follow-up on July 9th, I received the spaying certificate at 3:31 PM, but the delay was unacceptable.
Communication from the office was extremely poor. The receptionist, Nayeli (if that is her real name), was extremely rude, constantly interrupting me and displaying an unfriendly demeanor. When I asked to speak with the manager, Sue, I was told she was in a meeting at 4 PM. Nayeli did not ask for my name, callback number, or the best time to reach me, I had to spoon-feed her my info. When I called again at 5:12 PM, the hospital was closed. I learned that Sue had left for the day without returning my call. The girl from the hotel side refused to provide her name, did not pass my message, and offered no help.
On July 10th today at 9:38 AM, I called again. Michelle, another receptionist, was incredibly rude, constantly interrupting me, and raising her voice. She informed me that Sue was not in the office and did not know when she would arrive. Michelle raised her voice on me and told me to stop talking because it was her turn to speak, which I found quite amusing lol. My 9-year-old son is 1000% more polite than her; he understands the basic human courtesy of waiting until someone finishes speaking. Her behavior was completely unprofessional, unacceptable, and quite laughable, especially in a service-oriented industry.
The staff at Spot On demonstrated a lack of passion and commitment to their roles, appearing to work solely for their paychecks. I feel sorry for the owner, Dr. Philip Putter, who may not be aware of how his staff is damaging the hospital's reputation. Or perhaps he doesn't even care. There are numerous other veterinary clinics in Stamford, Greenwich, and Darien that offer much better and more professional services. Given the poorest service and entitled attitudes I encountered, I am now an ex-customer of Spot On. I will share my experience with all friends and families in Westport and advise them to avoid Spot On new location altogether. I no longer trust Spot On with my dog's care, as they fail to live up to their advertised values, mission, and beliefs, see attached pics.
The staff at Spot On demonstrated a lack of passion and commitment to their roles, appearing to work solely for their paychecks. Their attitude and behavior suggest they do not enjoy their jobs, which affects the level of service provided. I feel sorry for the owner, Dr. Philip Putter, who may not be aware of how his staff is damaging the hospital's reputation. Perhaps he does not even care about the pets and its customers, but only the money they rip off from their customers with their unacceptable poor service.
As of 11:38 AM, I still have not heard back from the manager, proving they do not value their customers. Spot On Veterinary Hospital & Hotel has failed to meet even the bare minimum standards of professionalism, communication, and customer service. I strongly advise potential customers to shop around and seek veterinary care who truly care about your precious pets and for your...
Read moreWe happened to come across Spot On Veterinary Hospital & Hotel in a moment of need (nothing serious). We were going away for Labor Day weekend and needed a place to board our cat Frida (she's VERY VERY sensitive about noises and her surroundings).
When we showed up, they gave us a tour of the facility, and showed us where Frida would be staying. They have gentle music playing in the background for the cats which canceled out any noise from the dogs, it was a serene and tranquil multi-tiered cat condo with 3 levels and a window to the outdoors.
Spot On Veterinary Hospital & Hotel offers a text-to-chat feature that allows you direct access to someone, and they sent us a photo of Frida so we could see how calm and relaxed she was.
When we picked her up for the first time EVER she was calm, cool, and totally relaxed. The real test was when we got her home she acted as if nothing had ever happened.
We now brought our puppy Bentley here multiple times for all his shots and one minor emergency. The doctors are caring, and compassionate (to both the owner and the animals). The on-site technology they have here surpasses anything in Stamford and that means almost anything can be diagnosed and treated in-house without needing to go anywhere else (they don't have an on-site MRI but they do have a CT Scan)
The staff, what can I say about the staff, the front desk staff are AMAZING! They remember your dog's name and they treat our animals with so much love and tenderness. Bentley (now 8 months old) is cared for like he was their own pet and he's never once had a traumatic experience here and that is no small part to the team they have working at Spot On Veterinary Hospital & Hotel.
The space is immaculately clean, there is always someone cleaning the reception area, wiping down the sofas, and countertops, and mopping the floors. They have a complementary beverage station with free coffee (good coffee too) bottled water and a fridge with an assortment of other beverages.
I have never had a single surprise when it comes to billing, or the options available prior to treatment. Everything is laid out in black and white on a tablet (if you leave they will send you emails) and they require a signature on your treatment plan before they proceed every item on the treatment plan is priced out and they always give you options 1,2 or 3 (3 being the most expensive) and will explain the pros and cons to you until you are comfortable and understand everything.
Anyone who knows me knows that I read reviews and I always start with the bad ones first (and I read them ALL) after numerous visits to see the vet, and numerous hotel stays I couldn't even try to suggest anything they could improve on.
This place is SPECIAL and if you want your furry friends to receive the best care available in Stamford for people who LOVE ANIMALS look no further, as long and I live in the area, I will never take my pets...
Read moreI feel compelled to share my distressing experience with Spot On Veterinary Hospital & Hotel in hopes that others will use my experience to make a truly informed decision before placing their dog in the care of this facility.
During my first visit with my dog I was met with many smiles, answered questions, and offered prosecco in the waiting area. It felt like a place where I could trust my furbaby during the days I had to be in office.
It pains me to say that not only did this facility fall drastically short of ethical standards, but their actions have also caused irreparable harm to my pet and emotional distress to my family. During what was supposed to be a routine stay, my dog was neglected and sustained permanent injuries requiring surgery and general anesthesia. When confronted, the staff provided me with a slew of excuses, outright lies and altered medical records, further obscuring the truth of what my dog endured under their watch. This act of dishonesty is not only unethical but potentially dangerous, affecting the care decisions made for my dog. It’s shocking and unacceptable that a place tasked with the health and wellbeing of our pets would falsify vital health information.
The extent of what happened to him was only reported to me after the Hotel manager investigated the incident 2 days after its occurrence. After this incident they referred to my dog as “fragile”, as if it was his own fault that he was left unattended while injured and bleeding. He wasn’t called “fragile” prior to this.
Lastly, the financial aspect of their service was just as misleading. I was blindsided by charges that were never discussed upfront, leaving me feeling exploited and deceived. The lack of transparency and accountability is appalling. This seems to be a common complaint among reviewers - and yes, I wish I would’ve paid more attention to those reviews instead of being lured in by beautifully painted rooms, smiles on faces, and prosecco.
I do want to add that this does not apply to all of the staff, there are several staff members who really made his stay enjoyable - one in particular gave my boy the nickname of “mosquito” - every time my boy caught a glimpse of this man he would wag his tail like crazy and run toward him because he knew he would get genuine love and lots of pets. However, all the love from certain staff members does not make up for the neglect and lies told by others.
I urge anyone considering this facility to rethink their options. This experience has not only left a lasting impact on our lives but has also shown that this establishment does not prioritize the welfare of the animals in their care. Please, consider this a warning to steer clear of Spot on Day Care Veterinary Hospital & Hotel to prevent similar heartache...
