My recent visit to The Stamford Diner was an absolutely delightful surprise and a testament to the fact that not all diners are created equal. On a quest for a great breakfast spot that wasn’t your typical “greasy spoon,” my search on Google led me to The Stamford Diner, somewhat randomly. What a fortunate stroke of serendipity it turned out to be!
Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the diner’s cleanliness and its spacious, almost cavernous interior, which was both welcoming and comfortable. The atmosphere set the stage for what was to be a remarkable dining experience.
The service was a highlight of our visit. Our waiter was attentive and efficient, ensuring our coffees were never empty and our needs promptly met, all with a friendly demeanor that added to the pleasant ambiance.
But the true star of the show was the food. The menu offerings were far beyond what one might expect from a diner, both in quality and creativity. The banana pancakes were fluffy and flavorful, the corned beef hash was perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the colossal breakfast sandwich served on thick, savory French toast was an absolute delight. Each dish was a testament to the skill and care put into the diner’s culinary creations.
Adding to the charm of The Stamford Diner were signs throughout the restaurant indicating that Guy Fieri had visited in May 2023 for a filming session. While I have yet to watch the episode, if my experience is anything to go by, I can only imagine he was as impressed, if not more so.
My visit to The Stamford Diner was not just a meal, but a thoroughly enjoyable experience that has already drawn me back in anticipation of my next visit. It’s clear that this diner stands out not only for its exceptional food but also for its service, cleanliness, and ambiance. The Stamford Diner deserves every bit of its five-star rating and is a must-visit for anyone looking for a top-notch breakfast in Stamford.
Sadly, I failed to take pictures….maybe because I savagely dug into my breakfast as I was unable to resist the...
Read moreWent here for the 1st time with my family as a large party of 11 on Sunday October 20th 2024. We entered the restaurant, told our name to the host, and had to wait a while for them to set up a table for us, and for some reason they wanted the whole party there to sit us. When about half our party arrived, we were sat quickly. While we were waiting, we noticed that they had lots of desserts like carrot cake, red velvet cake, rice pudding, chocolate cake, and various other delicious looking desserts! It is a busy diner, and not that easy to find parking, but we drove around until we found a spot. This restaurant was also featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, drive ins, and dives tv show. we saw a banner outside the restaurant. Restaurant gets really busy, but they do have a lot of tables, and a big restaurant. Server was also very nice and patient with us. Could have checked on us more, but that can be hard to do if busy. I started with water and chocolate milk, and got waters for the table. i believe someone also had orange juice. Also coffees. For breakfast, i decided on the Oreo pancakes, a couple of people got the spinach omlet which came with potatoes, someone ordered french fries, got toast, and most of us got omelets. Food also came at a decent time, and pretty much all at once for the same table. Oreo pancakes were very good, only thing was is that I prefer my toppings inside the pancake, and this was mostly on top of the pancakes. Still was delicious and i enjoyed it! Even the potatoes were good, as i stole one from my dad. Another favorite was the omelet which my aunt said was flavorful and enjoyable. Restrooms were also very clean. We paid via credit card and left a cash tip. Would definitely come again if we were...
Read moreFood and service was good but not nearly good enough to be worth the obscene prices. If you think about what every other diner in the New England area charges for each meal you can get a good idea of what you would pay for two people. At this location you can estimate that it will be almost double what you'd usually pay. Fettuccine Alfredo (for example) should not be 30 dollars. Imean maybe MAYBE 20 if it was much better than other places, but the food there isn't significantly different enough to warrant a price tag that's to high for even a somewhat upscale restaurant (let alone a diner). Every item on the menu is just the same story, too much money to be considered worth it. On top of that my food was a mixture of overcooked or not cooked enough. And half of my plate was good, the other half tasteless. For what it's worth, the location is beautiful, its clean, and everything else is done well. But the service is what you'd expect (and nothing more) and the food is average at best. For that it would get 4 stars, but the borderline crazy pricing leaves me unable to do so (and feel like I'm being honest). I really hate leaving bad reviews so I will at least say this much.... It's the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, everything is costly, and service is probably different considering the low volume of customers. So maybe it will change in time, and maybe your milage will vary - but I will not be eating there again any time soon.. This review is true as of January of 2022; maybe it will be a different...
